New computer, built and functioning!

Posted by blue213 on Oct. 5, 2007, 2:20 p.m.

So here's the specs:

Processor:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (£172.50)

Motherboard:

MSI P6N Platinum (£102.76)

RAM:

Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC8000 1GB x2 (£127.01)

Graphics:

PNY Geforce 8800GTS 640mb (£260.00)

Soundcard:

X-FI Elite Pro (£193.46)

Power:

OCZ GameXStream 600W (£67.98)

Screen:

Viewsonic VX922 (£159.93)

Mouse/Keyboard:

Microsoft Business hardware pack (£20.07)

CD/DVD + Burning drive

Liteon LH-20A1H-487C 20xDVD1RW/DL (£23.59)

Hard Drive:

Western Digital RAPTOR X 150GB (£140.88)

2x 250GB WD Caviar (£86.65)

OS:

Windows XP Professional 64-bit

TOTAL: £1565.25

Some of the parts are missing from this list, though.

So what does 64D think so far? Was it a good choice to go for 64-bit?

Anyway, to game making. Recently in BlastForce I've been revamping the engine, making it faster, and the like. The view angle is now behind the player, and rotates with it. Enemy turrets now rotate towards targets. Still a lot of work to do, though. Perhaps I'll post a few screenshots later.

Oh yeah, my keyboard and music software arrived. I've hooked up the keyboard to the computer and installed the software. YAY. I don't have a stand for it, though. At the moment it's precariously balanced on top of two stools.

Thanks,

Blue

You just failed when you installed XP x64. Not only do you not need it because you don't have more RAM then 32bit allows, it just so happens that XP x64 is a buggy piece of shit.

Other than that, that rig is pretty much the same as mine, except yours has a slightly better processor. I have more HDD space and better peripherals though :P

And buying an X-Fi Elite was kinda overkill, onboard sound is perfectly good.

Is this a prefab?

Built it myself. And when the time comes, I can just buy and install another gigabyte of RAM if I need it.
