Not too long ago I bought Game maker 6 (I think), and thought I would rule the world, lo and behold, I got ahead of myself and didn't even have all the art assets done, long story short: I never finished my Juan game (side-scroller beat 'em up).
Uncle Sam snatched me up, took me to interesting places and now I'm back and with a lot of free time. I've enlisted the help of two friends, a cousin and my brother: (an architect, an illustrator, a painter and a sound guy, all still in college). We've named ourselves Conuco team (conuco is a small plot of land for cultivation). I have a small window now before my next full-time employment and I have one goal: to finish our first game! I'm armed with Game Maker 8 pro (didn't do too well with Torque). Don't know what the game will end up as, maybe sold in Latin America? Who knows at this point, but my cousin sure thinks so (he's optimistic, not too realistic though). All conuco team needs right now is a script savvy person, you know those guys that make platformer engines for the heck of it. I'll attach your name or url or avatar to the game credits if that's what you'd like. I'm hoping to find someone here in 64digits, but if I have no such luck, I'm armed with Game maker's apprentice (although I can't seem to find the book). Well, let me know guys/gals if you wanna cultivate your talents (conuco reference), but here's the caveat: we're not professionals in ANY of our respective trades, I can't even say we're any good, but we're passionate and have noob charisma (and low standards). Check out the pics:
Haha, the art is great, good luck with the game, even though it may be pretty hard :P Commercial success and Game Maker do not exactly come in pair, usually.
There should be a few good platform examples on GMC. Otherwise you may want to try something else out. There are other game makers for platformers, but they lack GM's tile mapping.
Although from your art, you wouldn't really need tile mapping.Yay!! Just checked GMC for about 5 minutes and found not one but two highly advanced, awesome platform engines. Thanks :)
