God hates my game

Posted by carritohmc on May 25, 2010, 4:40 a.m.

So as all 5 people who've read my previous blog know: I'm back and making a new game, this time with renewed impetus and a team of rag tag artists (we call ourselves Conuco team).

Unfortunately, things haven't been going according to plan:

1: recent flooding of my state has kept me occupied, delaying my move to a new house with faster internet.

2: one member of the dev team (the architect) has broken his dominant hand (of course) fighting (apparently) MMA, therefore delaying the backgrounds.

3: the painter, responsible for cut scenes and designing character menu portraits has got it stuck in his head that the world is ending in 2012 (I'm not making this up), so…. well… painting isn't his priority right now.

4: The illustrator, (very talented and reliable guy) was last seen rioting at his university. I've gotten no word on his whereabouts.

So right now, I'm just programming what I can, but to be honest, my motivation isn't what it used to be. I might end up getting a full time government job a lot sooner than expected, which is good, especially in these trying times, but on the other hand it jeopardizes the completion of this nightmare (ahem, I mean game).

Oh well, at least if I don't do my part it's because I'm working, not because I'm busy beating people up, throwing rocks or heading for the hills.

@Ferret, true, I've been trying to stay productive, tweaking the engine and stuff.

@ Cesque, yeah, I tried convincing him otherwise, it was like talking to a wall, nice guy though.

@ Toast, I'll get right on that (the avatar business).

Programming takes more time than art so I would take this opportunity.

Wow am I doing SOMETHING wrong, then…

Yeah, I bet you're actually putting some EFFORT into your work. That always sucks.
