It's amazing how off my expectations are, but I think this is the one time I won't have to settle for less. It's looking like I'll actually be able to complete my game just as I had envisioned it, more or less. I finally showed my game off to my girlfriend, and she seemed genuinely happy, and impressed (she was probably just being polite). I've implemented a few things I really wanted:a) zooming camera (think samurai showdown).b) multiple screen resolutions. The physics, platforming and main character are all working without a hitch, no sticking, no glitches, clean and precise. So now I'm moving on to the next phase: enemy A.I. I actually had a programmer on board for this, but he just decided to move on to his own game I guess. Well, no surprise there, considering out of 5 people that started on this project, I'm the only one left. Oh well, more fun for me. I thought I would hate the programming more than anything, but it's quite the opposite, this is actually fun. I'm enjoying myself. I think I'll have a playable game (at least a demo) in two weeks or so.
I would like to see this in motion.
I background on the first image reminds me of Okami O_o
I second Acid's motion.
I can't decide on what the graphics style is supposed to be.
this looks awesome
this has a recognizable art style, i just can't think of a good name for it. it makes me think of Salad Fingers
@acid and Cesque. I'll have a demo whipped up as soon as I get the AI up and running, but at the very least I'll have a video in the next two weeks or so. For those that liked the graphics: Thanks!! There are a lot of placeholders, (the sandbag). and some sprites look better than others, but I hope animation and movement will harmonize it.
Reminds me of ink and water colors
