64D Community Spirit?

Posted by chiggerfruit on Nov. 25, 2006, 9:52 p.m.

It's about time i made another blog. I doubt people read them much, but i hope they read this one.

Anyways back in the day of the old… old… old GMC, it actually still functioned as a tight-knit community that was very festive and did a lot of community activities. Then it died. Old, familiar, jolly mods left, new stricter mods came in. The community expanded, it became more mechanical, and now you won't dare even post a Merry Christmas! topic in the so-called "Community" forum due to fear of getting it locked.

I don't want this to happen to 64Digits =. So I wanna suggest some community activities. =D (rereading that, that sounded pretty gay) These are my own ideas, so they could possibly be turned down by other staff members.

Winter Banner Contest

We could possibly have a contest amongst the members for a temporary winter banner. It would replace either the 64 Digits banner at the very top of the page or the flash banner on the front page. We could have a rotation of a few different banners, and possibly reward the the artists of them.

A 64Digits Christmas Story

I remember in the very first IPB GMC, Dorfsquest (former mod) made a topic called the Game Maker Christmas Story. Basically, it was a story built up from additions from all the members. You could add a sentence, a paragraph, a page if you so wish. I remember we had to start a second topic cuz the first one was so effin' long.

Xmas Present Xchange

Basically, you have to give some sort of present in any form you wish to a random person. Just submit your name and we'll give you the person you're assigned to give a present to.

I hope those didn't sound too gay, but the main reason i left the GMC was because i didn't get those warm fuzzy feelings inside. Anyway add your input on what you think about these ideas. Add your own if you want. I highly encourage it.

That winter banner contest sounds like a good idea.

What kind of presents would we exchange over the Internet? Links to… happy… sites?
LMAO.

Haha cool i got good backing. Anyways you could give a "happy site" link if you want to but… that would be a lame present. The present would be anything you wanna give, music, artwork, a game, money through a paypal account… (which would be extremely kickass of the person i might add) anything.

These ideas are great chigger, I don't think they're gay in any way. I think the banner idea was one of the best, and the present exchange sounds good too. Maybe we could make a place(forum topic?) where you can make ideas for upcoming events.

I can't get Photoshop because it's 120mb so too large to download. [:(]

Someone that would make it a whole zip file and seperate it to 5mb zip files and upload all of them would be my best friend. [:)]

Hmm good idea monkey, i'll prolly do that in the morning.

And mastermind, if you're lucky, you'll get it as a present exchange from somebody. =O

Hey, Mastermind, if you give me your mailing address I will burn Photoshop to a CD and mail it to you! And no I won't put anthrax on the envelope, silly!

How about I give you my cousin's and he dies, then I get the disk. Sound fair?
