For those that care I will give a brief history on the creation of Cell Burst.
Cell Burst started life out as a much requested sequel to Emoticon Tournament. For a time I tried it with emoticons and discover it just didn’t match the new darker style I was shooting for. I put the game aside and work on Explogen 2 instead. Then, after I finish that I decided I wanted to come up with a way to do it. I come with the basic idea for the Cell like body and I found that worked pretty good. So I pick back up construction on the game and early 06 I release a very very early alpha. However, I kind of slacked off after that and nothing got done for a while. Then, late 06, I pick back up the work on the game and manage to get out the second Alpha. This one was much better than the old alpha and by this time I had already designed the menus. This is the alpha posted here at 64digits.Which brings us to the now.I finished brawl mode and I pretty much finished Man Hunt mode. I also added a new game mode called “Eight Man.â€? Which as you can guess, is an eight man brawl mode. It’s a ton of fun! I have also, started tracking the stats of the player. You will be able to view your: Total games, Games won, Games lost, Kills, Deaths, Shots Fired, Shots hit, Hit %, and your number of badges[still not done yet].Here's two screen shots.Screen 1Screen 2I also spent some time lately optimizing my code. The only big thing I see is that the player's or AI's bullets shouldn't hurt while they are invincible.
And then there is the issue with the lazer gun and online.Is the AI easier than last time?? Cause I can win on 50 kills with just the handgun.The laser gun online I will address at a later date. (it should be easy to change)
Good suggestion about the bullets not hurting during invincible. The AI doesn't have an invincible, they just don't shoot for the first second or two when they come out. (I'll most likely make it so that the player just can't shoot while he's invincible.)In a small way yes, it is. However, I've tried to change that so far. (The enemy's fire faster, ect…) Your bullets not hurting during your invincablity should make it harder. Thats one of the things I'm working on.
