Video Game Censorship

Posted by ffalcon on April 27, 2006, 3:26 p.m.

What do you think? Should Congress be more concerned with video games being a little graphic than a war, a failing economy, and rising gas prices?

I say no. It should be up to parents to monitor what their kids see. Too many parents are reliant on the Xbox to babysit their kids, however. The bureaucracy shouldn't ban sales of good video games because today's parents have checked out.

People like Hilary Clinton and Jack Thompson wil come after us, however, and it's time for gamers and programmers alike to let our voices be heard!

Ok, this is the end of this. The fact of the matter is you said that the government never banned a game. I proved that a game was in fact banned from sale. Even though it was temporary, it was indeed banned, proving your comment technically wrong. You proceeded to go off on a tangent and start cussing me out. You did everything you could to prove me wrong. And it was because of this word -

"PWN'D"

If it makes you feel better about yourself, then by all means have a blast. But is it really so hard to accept that I, even in a small way, proved you wrong?

JESUS TAP-DANCING CHRIST

And back on topic, I do not think it is up to the government to keeo these games out of kid's hands. It is up to the parents to restrict their kids. For god's sake, the parents need to take some responsibility.

I really cant say cause its not really in my personality to do stuff just because I see it in a game or movie or anything.

I find a violent game can be a healthy stress release. It simulates the evil stuff so you don't have to do it yourself. Violent games and crazy drugs prolly don't mix though

Bottom line, it's up to parents.

It wasn't banned, that is the point. Wikipedia is incorrect about that. A temporary bar of sales is not a ban. It is a miswording on the part of whoever posted that there.

yeah, i put that there before reading EVERY comment. misspelling? nah, it probably needs to be updated is all.things change, the world works that way.

ban temporary bar. bad either way.

If it was pulled from the shelf, then technically no-one had access to it, so it was, in effect, banned.

From my dictionary:

ban, noun.

1. To block access to.

2. To prevent access.

imtotally against banned games. and, know wats funny, that wikipedia entry. most of the games are banned or changed in certain countrys that they portray as bad, for example: return to castle wolfenstein-germany changed it becuase of the nazis, and ghost recon 2-south kores banned it cause you kill south koreans and it makes them look bad.
