Winter Demo Today I am releasing my super beta version of the game I am submitting for the Yoyo competition. It is a sorta puzzle and sorta arcade. This is the version in which you can submit your score and compare it to others online.

Draw functions
They can, it's just the default message box settings are quite boring, probably due to each game having the same one.
Loading in custom backgrounds and button sprites can make it look quite nice, and saves alot of coding, <_<.Annoying part is when a ton of them are each shown one after the other with that same freezing and everything
I think that you can use them, but only if they've been customized. And if you use as few as possible. And if you only have one at a time. And as long as you don't use them to show what characters are saying.
