Iktsua Gameplay [64DSC]

This post will focus on how Iktsua will be played.

Quick Background:

It is essentially and exploration adventure game set in Eskimo time/territory. You are sent into the wilderness to hunt and provide for your village.

Gameplay

There are 2 main factors that you must balance. Your warmth and your stamina. To help you with this task you have a cloak/pack. You can "upgrade" your pack by hunting animals and using their skins to keep warm. The pack also holds food which can be used to increase stamina.

(The above image shows this cloak and pack)

This cloak keeps you warm while you walk around. However, in combat, the coat could encumber you. So you have the option to remove the cloak at any time. When you do this your warmth drops quickly, but you now have the ability to dash and throw your spear. (with the cloak on you can only stab with the spear)

So the main game will be exploring the environment and finding the best situation to hunt in without freezing to death or wasting all of your stamina.

As always, let us know what you think!

I'm digging the art style, what program are you using to create these models?

We are using blender and maya/zbrush to make all the models. Generally the initial base mesh is done in blender and then details and organic features are painted on in zbrush. After this we begin texturing, rigging, and animating in blender.

We have a time lapse of the initial modelling of the polar bear being done in blender here:
