Dominos 3 video

Posted by marbs on Feb. 10, 2010, 10:16 a.m.

Here, have a video:

The video is about a week old now, so is actually a bit outdated, since then I've made the terrain more curvy, and added nasty spikes that kill the player :( Also added other stuff that I can't remember.

The camera work is a bit shoddy, but I suppose that's what happens when you try and hold the camera under your chin. The iTouch moves into view more after several seconds. It also didn't help that this was filmed at 3am.

If you turn the volume up really high, you can faintly hear some nice music in the background. That is not music for the game (I have got no music sorted out for Dominos 3 yet), it is simply music I was listening to.

Progress is…progressing well. However unfortunately other things keep popping up every now and then and eating away at my free time. I can see that I will be able to finish this project though. Everything is sorted out, except for music. Oh, and marketing the finished game, but I suppose that's a whole new board game, so to say. Hopefully I can generate a little bit of interest through this short video, even though it kinda sucks. Need to find a better way to show the game.

One way perhaps would be to use a screen recorder and film it on my mac, but then you would not be able to see how the controls for the game work.

Hm…

Oh yeah, still need to figure out a better name. Hoping one will pop into my head in due course. "Dom3"? =/

EDIT: New video!

Maybe you shouldn't call it something 3 after all, besides it's not like the iPhone/iTouch users will have known about the other two… Also, I found a cool game called Dominos where you lay out dominos and knock em' down.

Cool. I want to develop apps as well. What are you using for developing?

PC version? Or is there such thing as an iTouch emulator?

Marbs, you're going to be rich as hell.

I played the first in high school once, when we had free time but weren't supposed to be gaming, and I attracted the attention of many students and the teacher. They were all sitting around me saying how cool it was and wondering where they could get it.

The point is, this is going to spread like the flu. And if you're charging per download, you'll reap the (massive) fruits of your efforts.

Keep at it.

I'll make some music for you, just like old times. If you want, that is.

Looks pretty cool.

I'd also be up for some music if you'd like.
