So, Taizen started teaching me how to draw today and I have resolved to post each success here so you can all scoff at my horrible drawing skills and hopefully provide some useful critiques. So without anymore ado, here it is.

I don't know. He's a college student. I guess in this light he does look kinda depressed. Maybe he just got out of a test and thinks he might have done badly. It was kind of the way I was feeling at the time. When I first drew it and in the lighting here, he looks more determined though. So maybe he also has resolved to get a better grade.

He's probably a regular visitor to 64digits.com.

It's a good start. Arms are a little too long, though. Or the torso is too short! Arm length is typically slightly past the hips if you include the hands. Use that as a guide to figure out the arm/torso size for next time.

I drew him on the stairs to counteract the mismatched proportions. If we are looking down on him from above, it makes sense that his arms would be longer than his legs.

I didn't even notice the arm length.

Ah, in that case a little study on perspective'll help. Keep on practicing!

He resembles octodad, perhaps he can't handle the stress that comes with hiding your true octopus identity from the world

Probably better than most people's first drawings.
