I have played almost every contra game(as well as similar games) and have noticed one key element, the bosses are , well, always huge and because of this they are made up of multiple parts. This is obviously because a big creature will require a big sprite which is big memory and bad collision detection.
The first boss of contra 3 is a good example of this. Notice the limbs and the claw.In game maker I tried a similar technique when making the 3rd boss of kyle's quest. It was a little crude but suits the game. Also the bos parts where modeled with anim8or just like all the other bosses. Also I have made significant progress in my game, finally finishing the 3rd zone and adding another cutscene. I also added a stage that involves running to the end of the stage, defeating a really hard badguy on a moving platform over lava, while being chased by slow moving but deadly moving blades. I am worried that players will give me hate comments of frustration so I'm testing the stage severely. La8r

the only thing i dont get is why do people get mad if yu make games hard?? its anoying huh? thats the fun part if theyre hard cause if u beat them u no u got skillZ
How much memory is that game?
I had that kind of case in Espion,a part needed extreme use of both hands,so while one hand jumped at perfect timing, the other had to shoot at a seemingly moving point just as the ground was hit.I made an alternative fashion to win,by ducking into a little trench and going through a little tunnel to popout right after a save block.Nice. Bosses are fun to make. Looks like your doing good. I do agree with russellwoot. One of the problems I have is I try to make my games harder so its a chanllange for me to play so I can have fun and everyone else is complaining they cant beat the first few levels. so don't let there hate comments get to you most ppl suck at contra games anywai cus thay nubs
I like the idea of a 3-4 object boss.
Cool. Now, fix the aliasing issues on those sprites before I throw up, please.
Besides the anti alias issue, those are awesome!
