[mazi]Top 5 average joes in sitcoms

Posted by mazimadu on Sept. 7, 2007, 9 p.m.

Hello again 64d. I was saving this blog for the end of the week, but I was forced to come out due to confusion amongst the masses. What do I mean by this. I don't know really. The masses refers to one person who shall remain nameless (fhh;Millar2k6;jj).

Recently, there was a huge flame war btw Shadow yoshi and Millar2k6. It was hilarious. Something about 64digits and sm-games but it was fun to read. If sm-games ever becomes as big as 64d (ever?) then I would like JakeX and the guru of that site to make an online war game so we can duke it out to see who has the better site. The battle in it's self ended with Yoshi walking away from it all and millar fuming. All flame wars end that way, don't they? If it where real it would look like this.

The other guy is millar (since he doesn't have an avatar I used a question mark and his T-shirt says "I am millar"). I personally thought yoshi would win that fight since he has experience. Sorry millar, I had to chose.

Top 5 average joes in sitcoms

What makes a really good sitcom is the characters. Some of the best and most acclaimed series tend to concentrate on the average joe, simple people in an ever more complex world, there troubles, misadventures and relationships they share with friends and family. Most sitcoms use the average joe because of his availability , the fact that every man on this list could be an engineer, bartender, desk joe, construction worker etc near you. Haven't you ever wondered what kind of drama takes place in the bus driver's life or if your teacher has found a girlfriend yet? If he did then the details would be funny. I am not a drama person so I will use these guys from sitcoms. Don't expect any action heroes or police officer in this list. Killing is serious.

5. Tim Taylor - Home Improvement

By day, he is a local celebrity who makes all manner of wacky (and in some cases ingenious) modifications to "improve" your home. Everywhere else, Tim is just another hastily incompetent(yet kind hearted) father who loves cars and never listens to his wife. Tim Allen's character is one I respect since it accurately shows a part of himself he cant display in reality. This is probably what made the show work. I hope he can do this in Toy story 3. That would be nice

4. Chandler Bing - Friends

No matter how good or bad this get, there will always be a sarcastic comment coming out of the mouth of Chandler Bing. The is the 2nd character of the 6 friends and is a hoot. He is not my favorite character(Ross is), but I like the fact that all the homosexual jokes are focused on the poor guy. I don't blame him, he has a dirty mouth.

3. Homer Simpson - The Simpsons

Mmmm, donuts. When simpsons started, my focus was on bart since he was coolish. But as i grew older I found out the reason the series has survived for so long. this guy. Homer is a lazy, alcoholic bafoon who is a clever idiot who has done it all. He has been a super hero, police officer, politician and the works. Homer is a wonderful character who inspired clones such as Peter Griffin (who would have been on theis list if I didn't find out he was a clone. He appears a one of the homer clones in treehouse of horror). I could go on with homer but the movie which everyone say did it for me.

2. Mr Bean - Mr Bean

I cant explain this character. He is a genius, an idiot, a child and a jobless twat. But still, he is a comedic masterpiece in the same league as Charlie Chapman and Harold Loyd. He may seem dated today (the movie says it all) but he is still fun to watch.

1. Fred Flintstone - the Flintstones

I love this guy. Just as a note; he was a sitcom NOT a kids show, as well as being based on the honey mooners. The best version of Fred is in the original flintstones. Fred is loud, clever, arrogant and very witty. He has become the inspiration for many average joe characters such as George Jetson and others. He has been removed from cartoon network and resides in boomerang. He is still funny after 50 years.

Runner ups.

Peter griffin: Homer clone

George Jetson: Always gets fired

Raymond: He is ok

Lucy: Timeless

Homer Simpson must be a giant! Look at that scale bar next to his picture, his legs alone are 5'9''!

Rowan Atkinson is one of my favorite comedians. The Mr Bean series is probably the worst he's done, and by worst, I mean still very good, but the not his best. Youtube him, and look at some of his earlier live works. They are fantastic.
