Sorry, I have no top 5's today, next time. What I want to discuss is the Nextgen games and 3d engines (again).
NextGen:I recently looked at the sales figures for the 7th gen consoles and to my shock, the xbox360 has sold, sorry, shipped 13 million copies to date. This is equal to the Wii. After cleaning my eyes and pondered a lot, I wondered what this means for the industry. The Wii si good and all, but the console is just soo different that there are not enough hardcore games on it. Sure, there is metroid, Zelda, and rayman(mini games) as well as the upcoming Brawl and mario, but where are the capcoms, Square Enix's, Konamis and 3rd party American developers? The console may have the market by the balls (to the point where they cant keep up with demand) but I want more from my Nintendo (I can download for the Virtual console, but have been doing that on my PC).Then there is the 360. MS is proving ground and has sony looking like the Atari jaguar. With there halos, bioshocks and many others. The XNA game studio may attract would be developers to the system, but I have not seen any games that really show off the frameworks true power. Plus, most of the development software that use the XNA platform are either for sale or in beta form. Still with Halo 3 lining Bill Gates pockets (to the point where Microsoft could not come to E4All) there will be many more games to come from the console, such as a port for Crysis.3D Engine:I have been playing around with the Ultimate3d engine and found it quite intriguing. The Collision engine is spot on and you can use many different model formats (including anim8or directly complete with animations.). That makes me wonder. Can you use the Anim8or to design stages? Kind of, because the house in that example is a model. But want about object placement? Can the Anim8or scripting language be used in conjunction to assign objects in GM to positions on the model, like a real level editor? Sounds plausible, but the ASL is used as a plugin device. Will it work? I will ask this question in the GMC and U3d forum and see what they will say.
Nice title font.
Game Maker's 3D just isn't worth it to me. I'm not convinced. You haven't seen ultimate3d. Try this demo and look at the gm6. it is easier than gm3d and xtreme3d combined.
I've seen U3D. It's easier, but not much better. X3D is about as good as it gets. I'm beginning U3D, actually.
I assume by GM3D, you mean D3D?@ Kilin
Yes that is what I mean. There is a plugin for anim8or to export models to D3D, but it sucks. I will just rather have the .an8 file directly.I used Anim8or once. I use C4D now though.
<CAN YOUR ANIM8OR DO THAT?!And chances are, you were never intended to be conceived.
This ought to liven things up.
gnol si tacgnolThe only reason I would possibly want a PS3 is for Armored Core IV.
Wii60 ftw.
