Hello 64digits. I haven;t blogged in well over a month and I still don't have much to talk about. Oh well here goes.
Microsoft rips off indie developers————————————————————If I remember a while back, I was excited that when Microsoft released XNA. Remember, the pipeline that lets you make games for free for windows and release them on XBOX live. Well now that MS has seen a resurgence of indie talent, the celebrated by slashing their royalties form 70% to 35%. I did the math and with that kind of money, you can't easily make a profit. What was MS thinking, how do they think they can take advantage of a new market by killing it off before it begins, it's stupidity I tell you. Oh well, you can always use Wiiware, which is easier to work with.To learn more click here ( http://www.gamesetwatch.com/2008/02/xbla_royalty_rate_changes_clos.php )The Squares: Episode 1——————————————In other news, the new squares game is going rather smoothly. I made a deal with gamerhippo7 to make a game that beats his previous games (Rebound and Sapphire Stories). Since I don't have the time and freedom to make large games anymore, I am splitting the game into episodes that can be released with improvements over the others. I have gotten the engine running smoothly and fixed several bugs, but won't release a demo until I finish this semester. Here are some screenshots.like the last game, there will be some in game humor thrown in.ass you can see, an obvious graphical overhaul took place.and that was my blog. Now for my questions;1. What are you views on indie/causal games?2. Is Microsoft being unfair?3. Who has GTA4?4. How the hell do you beat Sephorith in Kingdom Hearts 2? I'm at lv 61 and he still kicks my ass.
1. It's getting harder to make better games that people will buy.
2. yes3. not me but i wish i could play it but i don't have an xbox360 or ps34.maybe lvl 62 will help(I have no idea)1. I like them?
2. Don't really care.3. I don't have a console.4. See question 3.1: I enjoy playing some indie games.
2: No, they just want cash, and they already have enough, they didn't make the game, YOU DID.3: I wish I did, but I don't have consoles, or a good enough computer.4: I beat him when I borrowed my friend's PS2… But it took me a lot of tries. Just load up on everything you can, and train, I was about level seventy something when I did.It just takes that little bit of effort to do so.Nice graphics, Yoshi Story style!1)om nom nom
2) Yep3)Not I4) You don't, k?@ George
More people play casual games than you think, if not there wouldn't be companies like Pop Cap. Personally, I believe they belong only on handhelds, Mobile and mybe the Wii. No one is going to buy an Xbox360 to play pong or Bejweled, it was not designed for such players (visavi original Xbox controller)Whoa there, you almost had my eye out.
Aren't bevels dangerous?
They CAN be. Sometimes.
But wow, I didn't know I pose a "threat" to anyone ^^. Aw jeeze Mazi, your games are great, you don't have to try to program "better" than me. Heck, my games aren't that amazing anyhow. I'm still an amature like many developers here. Go look at a game in the archives titled Risky-1. That game is practically MADE of awful. Sorry, but it is. But one thing's for sure, I really DO like your "installment" idea. It's really going to keep players interested.Oh yeah, and:
1. I love them. They bring fresh dreams into the realm of gaming.2. Meh, I don't think about it, therefore I don't care about Microsoft.3. Sorry bro, but I've no PS3 or XBOX4. Try topping 70, and "using everything you've got" the trick to WHUPPING Sephy, is knowing his attack pattern and knowing when to dodge. It's like the bosses in Brawl, Watch and dodge then BASH BASH BASH. It takes a while but keep at it.
