Today, I decided to play with flash a little and improve my drawing skills with it. First, I tried doing something lazy by making a few dolls/models of the squares in different outfits (specifically Lana in multiple costumes since that's kind of her thing). After I while, I decided to parody a series that was a bit of an inspiration for my art style, Scott Pilgrim.
With that said, I made a picture spoofing the character select screen of the SPvstW game (which is a spoof of Mario bros 2, which is a rip off of doki doki panic). So here it is as well as a spoof of the SP title.http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_11Mh1L2OXko/TJ5TsfO60GI/AAAAAAAABEU/_kPyLrInu1w/s1600/SCOTTSQ.pnghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/_11Mh1L2OXko/TJ5TtjxDeSI/AAAAAAAABEY/nGLx0CtlbXg/s1600/world.pngBut then, I stopped to ponder how I could improve my art and noticed that my characters lack shadows and highlights. Considering the fact that this has been my default art style for the past 2 years, it is a bit embarrassing that I haven't added more detail to the characters. So I decided to add a little shadows and light highlights to a model of Kyle and it made a world of difference. Here it is.http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_11Mh1L2OXko/TJw7plBM6DI/AAAAAAAABEQ/QCN05YqMy_I/s320/kylehd.png
why did i read your title as "Playing with flesh"? god i'm losing my mind.
i've never tried flash before but i've done vector art and i have to say it's not as easy as it looks so good job.Does this mean animated comics or games? …or both?
Scott Pilgrim vs The World was amazing.@Hel
Flash takes some getting used to since it was geared more towards animation than art (though it does have fairly good tools for that). @FerretFlash game development really isn't my thing. I dabbled with the flixel engine a while back and found it to be quite interesting. As for animation, maybe I should get back into that. I haven't made a decent flash in ages.my comment disappeared ._. wierd
Anyhow, the shadows and highlights make a great improvement. It adds depth to your character.
