The Squares: The princess in the castle (Official demo)

Oh yes! After many months of tinkering, the true demo to the next square game is finally out. Despite being torn between school work and other projects, I managed to put in a lot of work into this one. This is not a true Square game but rather a spin-off parody. You still get to play as Kyle, who is out to save his friend Lana, but with a twist.

Well, yah(-_-). That would be awesome….

There certainly are a lot more improvements, beautiful animations and enemies than last time, but there also are a few new and old problems as well.

For example, I got stuck in a few of the princess' traps, but the game automatically fixed that, so that's alright.

The princess got stuck a few times as well.

Another problem is that the very first sign in the beginning says "Hold Z to run", but holding Z causes me to jump, so I don't know what that's about.

Lastly, when I reached the end of the castle, the Princess was just standing there and I didn't realize what to do in time, and it caused me to lose after all that hard work, and the Princess blew up the castle. ;_;

So please just let there be a quick message that tells you what to do, when you get to the end.

@JID

I see you finished the game. Yes it is quite rough around the edges, nothing a little elbow grease can't fix.

The princess is playing with her phone near the end. If you get to close, she will stop, look back and be surprised. You can hit here in this state for some rubies.

Also, you will always game over when you reach the end of the demo. It is a homeage to 90s pc demos that always say game over when ever you finish them. Since the reaction I am looking for wasn't achieved, I will remove it in favor of something more conventional.

Lastly,

Medic: donkoff, you made a mistake!

Mazi: my bad, x is to run, not z. I Otta fix that.

Fixed the poster to say X instead of Z, added two game over screens and a high score table.

Now I need to know how to create a php highscore table. I can make it but dont know how to send the data from the game to the mySQL sever. Any help on this one?

This

It's the easiest way.

@JID

This is quite useful. All it does is ping a url without alerting the browser. With all the code hidden within GM and the DLL, it will be quite convenient. The only down side is that it seems it can be easy to hack the table by sending a bogus number to the url, but that cant be helped.

Now to come up with daily high scores.
