SoD concept art crap

Posted by mikemacdee on Jan. 25, 2013, 1:06 a.m.

I discovered that I still have the conceptual sketches I drew way back in 2010 when I first started devving Suspension of Disbelief. I'll upload those here for you to browse at your leisure.

These include sketches of the boss monsters, though, so SPOILERS AHOY unless you don't care.

Splash screen sketches, which were actually used when I made the splash screens for the game: I "inked" and colored them in GM Paint. Or MS Paint. I forget which.

My first sketch of Sadie, which was also used in the game. Now you get to see the entire thing!

Note the sexy platform shoes.

Storyboard for the intro, which changed quite a bit visually, but the general context remained the same.

BOSS SKETCHES.

The Queen of Migraines.

Metal Gretel.

My Little Nightmare.

Sadie Skulljammer, and my favorite of the bosses.

Hope you enjoyed the gallery tour.

I was about to ask "based on her hairstyle, is sadie based on Pinkie Pie?"

Then you posted that pony version.

Now I'm confused.

Dammit, she does look like Pinkie Pie, doesn't she?

Well, Pinkie Pie with daddy issues.

She just looks like a stereotypical punk rock lesbian chick, so she's bound to look like other characters of the same type. It's not a bad thing; the world could use more beefy, malevolent, punk women. EDIT: I just realized you're talking about a pony.

I really like your drawings, you have a good eye for details, at least in the preliminary Sadie drawing. Only complaint is that the tattoos on her arm kinda look more like scraggly arm hairs. Are they supposed to be roses?

Thanks Carlo! Lost a lot of detail on those tattoos when I shrunk the pic down, so it looks kinda bleh: it's a slithery rosebush thing with skulls in it.

Come to think of it, I use tattoo designs like that a lot. Probably because it doesn't take several hours to detail.
