Hello,
My name is Ben. The past few months, I've been writing music for Taizen Chisou's ongoing game development project, "Chaos Weapon". (To view Taizen Chisou's 64Digits blog, click here.)Now I've finished the soundtrack, and I'm looking at the possibility of releasing the entire body of music as an album on BandCamp. Here are some sample tracks. They are culled from different parts of the game and picked more or less at random.*** arenabattle.mp3*** laboratory.mp3*** elementstemple.mp3*** town.mp3*** vskeegan.mp3The entire album will last about 2 hours. It will contain music that is basically comparable in quality to the tracks listed above. The soundtrack is going forward with Taizen Chisou's permission and best wishes. Is this something you would consider paying for? If so, how much? If not, why not?I would be very interested to hear reactions from members of the 64Digits community on this.EDIT: Here are a few more samples as requested:*** keegan1.mp3*** church.mp3*** battle.mp3
Interesting work.
Edit: hel Bullied me into writing this commentThis stuff has a really nice SNES feel to it, which was pretty much the era of RPGs most nostalgic to me. I think these are pretty good tracks, but I do have to say that out of the five anyway, there's nothing that really seems to stick in my head. It's probably just the lack of a solid melody though. Like, you've got something going but it doesn't seem to have a very memorable structure.
I think the music is good for the situation, just as background music, but I'm not sure if it's something I'd buy to listen to on its own.Kilin: OK. Thank you for listening. Yes, these tracks are designed to serve as background music for specific areas of the game.
My, my. I can think of a few that you ought to have posted on here. Hmm, such as, the Keegan's Tower Theme Floors 1 ~ 18, and perhaps the Church theme. And the battle theme maybe? Just personal favorites of mine :V
Agreed with Kilin. Like most OSTs, they're suitable as background music, both for the game as otherwise listening and looping it while you're busy doing other stuff, but it's not as "genius" as the few OSTs I'm actually willing to pay for. You did a good job though, capturing the SNES feel while still using higher quality samples.
lasper: OK. Thank you.
Taizen Chisou: Sure, you got it. :)Taizen: Thank you for posting those quotes. Yes, Charlie Carlo sent me the album art on Saturday. Here is his work:
Just wanted to say I've been listening to Boss2 and Duality quite a bit lately. Good job on those two, though I have to say Duality has some really bad parallel fifths around the 0:30 area. You've done a nice job capturing that old RPG feel in these.
Is this on Bandcamp yet? I want to stick it in my recommendations on my page.
