LotA: New Interface

LotA: Someone finally told me that LotA's interface looked bad. (As the doting creator, I would never have realized this otherwise…thanks, Jake) Thus, I have prepared a new interface. Instead of Vellum, I now have Leather.

MMO: I updated the roof texture and took an image of the city as it looks during the day.

I also enlarged the HP/EP bar.

I have been generating some data for the game, mainly concerning levels and their results. I will be posting these here to keep you all occupied.

MINING LEVEL CHART

Lv. 1: Can mine Copper (material). Can use Drill.

LV. 10: Can mine Tin (material) and Quartz (rare)

Lv. 20: Can mine Silver (rare). Can use Double Drill.

LV. 30: Can mine Iron (material) and Emerald (rare)

Lv. 40: Can mine Gold (rare, material). Can use Cap Drill.

LV. 50: Can mine Silicon (material). Can unlock Speed Mining feat (bronze level)

Lv. 60: Can mine Platinum (material). Can use Deep Drill.

LV. 70: Can mine Ruby (rare). Can unlock Speed Mining feat (silver level)

Lv. 80: Can mine Titanium (material). Can use Laser Drill.

LV. 90: Can mine Diamond (rare). Can unlock Speed Mining feat (gold level)

Lv. 100: Can mine Uranium (material). Can use Supreme Drill.

This is a classless MMO. That is, you don't define a class when you start the game; rather, your class is defined as you play. If you focus on Crafting activities, you will become a good crafter. If you focus on support, you will become a good support player. You will not be able to gain 100 levels in all of the 11 skill tracks; rather, you can gain 100 levels in 5 skills (or fewer for more than 5 skills).

The way this works is as follows. The first level of any Specialization takes 1 Level Point to earn. The second takes 2 Level Points, the third takes 3, and so on. Thus, it takes a total of 5050 Level Points to get to level 100. You can gain up to a total of 25250 Level Points - enough for five complete level trains (with no Feats unlocked). This will force players to specialize and will create a varied play environment.

Lions: It's better. I'm not incredibly fond of the jet black text and lines, but I'm just picky. However, try moving the line right above the "List Ships", "List Cargo", etc. buttons up a pixel, so that the buttons don't overlap the line.

Other than that, the buttons and 'selected boxes' on that panel in the center of the image should look more like buttons and less like lazy black line boxes.

As for Iron ____, nice to see you took my suggestion and made those bars bigger. Also nice to see that the buildings have noticible tops now - but they're awfully blurry tops. Also, those boxes casting shadows should also be drawn in 3D, if one thing has depth, all things should have depth. For that matter, does the game have trees? Oh, one last thing, what is the maximum number of players on an Iron Whatever Online server?

Okay, first off, I think I need to eliminate confusion. The official name is now Iron Band Online.

Blurriness fixed.

2d boxes… will take a while.

Yes, the game has trees.

I plan to have servers split at about 100 players. All server connection is done automatically - hidden from the user.

The result of my newest bunch of little things:

Hmm, looks better - but I think the roof texture is actually too SHARP now. Try to get the texture to look as blurry as the ground textures. You're using D3D, so it's just a matter of playing with the texture repeat values.

Can't wait to see it in motion.

MEMORY HOG ALERT!!!

No kidding, it is a video memory hog. Or was was I helped mplay test. He says he's made it better, but he did it by removing lighting and reflections.
