Our first president had his own knife...

…the George Washington Carver.

[LotA]: I have a work schedule for the next ten days. I will finish all features by wednesday. The remaining week will be spent testing, followed by a submission on November 29. Then, I will do some more testing, followed by a public release. Fun, fun, fun.

[Other projects] Then, I will be working to perfect EotS, to be released (hopefully) before new year's; followed by IBO work+first demo.

[Life]: My grandmother broke her leg a few days ago - compound fracture, both bones. So my mother has been taking care of her.

I am addicted to Naruto.

I'm looking forward to the release of Supreme Commander and Spore next year.

[OPoll]

A. What would you think if I decided to sell EotS and a second "chapter" of LotA?

0. It's horrible! Give me your stuff free!

1. I'd rather play a free, short demo.

2. I might buy one.

3. It's wonderful! I'd buy 'em both in a second!

B. What price would you buy my software for?

0. Nothing! Give them to me for free!

1. $5 to $9 would be good.

2. $10 to $19 is reasonable

3. $20 to $29 would be good.

4. >=$30

PTL!

Since he was living in the United States, that made him the president of the United States.
That is horrible reasoning. That's like saying that my name is Drew, and I live in the United States, so that makes me the Drew of the United States.

PS - The internet is the place for insulting people.

What are you talking about? All I meant was that he was leading the country of the United States, so he was the president of the country he was leading- the United States.

If Egor is a president and he is the leader of the country Blahblah, then Egor is the president of Blahblah. I don't see anything wrong with that reasoning.

You can't compare 'president' and 'Drew'. 'Drew' is a name and 'president' is a title. They aren't interchangeable in any way, so your reasoning is horrible.

but he wasn't the President of the United States. He never was. By definition, he wasn't even president (like the capital P matters), which means that Washington was our first President.

I don't really see this going anywhere. Every time I try to write a response to your comment, SleepinJohnnyFish, I find that I'm only repeating things I said earlier… which is a waste of time.

The fact is, I'm not going to agree with you and you're not going to agree with me. Let's just leave it at that.

Sorry Poly, as much as I hate to agree with him, SJF is right.

…he has been called the first President of the United States, but this claim is inaccurate…

…A popular urban legend or bar bet suggests that Hanson was the "first President" of the United States.

The origin of the claim that Hanson is the "forgotten" first President stems from a 1932 book by Seymour Wemyss Smith titled John Hanson - Our First President. Nevertheless, officially Hanson was the third presiding officer of the Congress of the United States, and he considered himself a successor to the first two men to hold the office, Samuel Huntington and Thomas McKean, who themselves were successors to prior Presidents of the Second Continental Congress. Nor was the office an executive position like the office of President that was created under the Constitution.

Hanson was, however, the first to serve a full one-year term, and the first to formally use the title President of the United States in Congress Assembled.

There's your free history lesson of the week, courtesy of Wikipedia.

Anyway, enough off topic debate. Comments are meant to, well, comment on the blog. So let's start doing that.

Please do, aeron.

I understand both your and SleepinJohnnyFish's point. What it all comes down to is your definition of 'president'. Hanson called himself a 'president', and he was the first to do so in the new country.

In any case, I have a test tomorrow in Early America. The person giving the test is a man who believes that John Hanson was the first president of the United States, so I'm going to go with that.

Sorry, omicron1. I'll stop arguing my point here [:)]

I'm going to go to Antarctica and call myself President. Then I'll be the first President of Antarctica. That makes it official, right? :)
