Well, it's done. I don't think I got all the bugs out, but it should work… (I hope)
The final install file is 114 mb (!) and includes the game, all supporting files, and an amazing set of music by Justin R. Durban. The game has approximately 74 sprites, 38 sounds, 48 backgrounds, 1 path, 175 scripts, 5 fonts, 0 timelines, 89 objects, and 5 rooms. It includes 166 external files in 7 folders. It also includes a 24-page, 3-mb game manual.I will be supplementing the contest release with a subsequent "even more bug-free" release on 64digits, followed by an eventual COMPLETELY bug-free gmc release. If the game places in the GDNet contest, I may have an even wider scope in which to release it. Thanks to all who have been enthusiastic about this project. It's been a long five months… but it was worth it.
114 mb? I doubt anyone will even try it. Well.. I will.
Exactly. I plan to have the first "bugtest" releases be musicless 15-mb releases, followed by a final game release. As the game is meant to be on the quality standards of such indy games as Darwinia and Starscape, I think the large filesize is acceptable.
Wow, that sounds cool. 114 MB is massive for me, but soon i'm tossing dial-up. So i'll try it. lol
Omicron - you can easily reduce the filesize of music by lowering the quality. Lower it until you perceive a noticable degradation of quality, and stop there, useing the previous one.
The assumption being, from such large filesize, that you are using *.wav files. No - mp3 files. 1:16:32 of quality mp3s.
