I have nearly finished my animation-creation program. It currently allows me to create smooth animations of 10+ frames in length, then export them to a set of .g3d files. It incorporates the concept of keyframes, and moves the bones between frames similarly to modern animation software. It has been tested, and successfully created usable animations. It takes ~15 minutes to create a 30-frame animation.
In that regard, I have begun to create the animations for the first-era units. These are:* Walk (universal human animation)* Melee Crush Attack 1 (militia)* Melee Crush Attack 2 (militia)* Die (universal human animation)* Range Arrow Attack (bowman)* Idle animation (universal human animation)Most of these will be about 1 second in length (30 frames avg.)
Dwah? What does that have to do with my blog?
When are you going to release another demo of this? It looks really good.
Before I release anything more than a graphical demo, I will have to get the gameplay in working order. At the moment it is no more than a pretty playground - you can't even order units to fight. However, progress is proceeding quickly.
Please… PLEASE!!! No more blogs about this game! I can't take any more!!1
Seriously though, you're going to wear it out if you're not careful.Okay, fine. The next blog post I make about this game will contain a gameplay demo.
This is sounding increasingly good. Good luck.
Please. If you're going to blog about it, please post a demo, I want to play so badly…
Woop, sorry. I still need to make the enemy player AI, as well as the animations for the militia. Everything else is done, however.
