Betas!

So, in the past few months, I've ben a part of the Myst Online beta, the Supreme Commander beta, the Dungeon Runners beta, the 9Dragons beta, the Voyage Century beta, and the LOTRO beta. Lots of beta testing for me, eh?

I'm a member of Great Games Experiment, and I have 8 invite keys. Ask if you want one.

I'm going to a PLNU-sponsored Science Honor Scholarship weekend on the 23rd to the 25th

I'm a National Merit Scholar! (finalist status: gained)

Dawn of Civilization should run at ~60fps on low detail (twice the last engine, with graphical improvements) down to 20fps on high detail, on my computer. This is comparable to most modern games.

I think I'm friends with Grace by now - she sits by me every class day, and we're speaking casually now. I don't know what's going to come of this; but I hope something good does.

->Kaz and Elmernite: Well… it's a bit like playing a real-time wargame with massive zoom abilities. While you can get up close enough to see individual units' individual wheels (or tracks, or turrets, or whatever); most of the time you're up in aerial view coordinating your forces. It's like the 3d mode is just a toy to play with when you're bored of the strategy portion. But it is fun to see the superunits in action - like that UFO unit with a gigantic spot laser below it which leaves a charred trail across the landscape; or the gigantic artillery piece which can fire across the map (and takes over an hour to build); or the bubble-shield defense building which doesn't defend against nukes, but looks fantastic; or… it's just really fun to watch.

It also feels quite intuitive. You can use your Commander to build… or you can harness some engineers and build faster… or you can task all your engineers and your Commander on a factory and cause it to build units faster… anything you think you should be able to do, you probably can.

Congrats! I took the PSAT and got a measly 195. There's next year for me… as a junior.

Are you taking AP Literature now? How do you respond to "damned" in the required reading (I believe Hamlet is required…)

Quote:
"Out, damned spot! out, I say!"
From Macbeth.

Quote:
"O villain, villain, smiling, damned villain!"
From Hamlet.
