The Bug that Would Not Die
So, I chased a couple of bugs for several hours yesterday. One of them must have been a virus - it kept replicating my fishing huts five or six times whenever one was created. The other had to do with a self-destructive storage pit that took the whole game with it. Fun stuff.Anyway, both bugs have bitten the dust by now. (For one of them, I had to actually create a whole new Fishing Hut model)AnimationsThere's a really scary bug somewhere in my animaker; it makes bones bend in strange ways; and I have no idea what to do about it. I can work around it, but it's annoying to say the least.I created about three human animations (melee crush, shield block, walk), but I think I'm going to have to fix this bug before creating final animations.Efficiency and VelocityI spend about three hours working on game efficiency this morning, with the end result being that the game achieves ~60 fps flat - up 15+ fps from Demo 1 with no quality changes. There is an additional extra-low detail setting which adds an extra 20 fps, but removes the animated water; and a resolution setting for the runner program. What is PlannedI plan to do the following before Demo 2:* Shave down the file size to decrease load time - there are still lots of unused textures in the game.* Finish Era 2 - this means several more buildings, 7 new technologies, and 3 new buildable units.* Finish new animation set - units will look better and perform better, due to some handy Xtreme3d commands.* Complete the implementation of morale and supplies - an important gameplay element. For demo 3 (tentative):* Implement enemy AI for a city-vs-city battle* New mapMeMy calculus 1 (College course) final is tonight. I have straight-A's in the course, so I'm not too worried.I won a raffle in the Indygamer blog a few days ago; with the result that I now have a copy of Mr. Robot and a mousepad. Yay.There was a fire several days ago in and around the church where my High School graduation was to take place. No word yet on what's being done about that.
Always worry about calc. Before you know it, you'll get hit with a related rates problem about Master Shake's height decreasing by 4 inches per minute, and his radius increasing by 5 inches per minute, what will his volume be in 10 minutes?
Assuming that Master Shake is a cylinder…
