back... again...

Well "I'm back at gamemaker"…. Again..

3rd time I tried to come back now lol.. but hopefully the saying "3rd time is lucky"… I hope I can keep being intersted in GM now for long enough to see a project of my getting some attentions [:)].

Well pretty much has happened since my last blog entry lol. University is consuming most of my time. Hopefully I pass the year, though the chances aren't that high [:(].. Physics contains so much math…

currently having 32/60 points.. while I need to get 40/60 - so I need to pass all tentams this period to get enough points for my study finance from the goverment. (else I need to ask my parents it very friendly). So everything depends on the next 5 weeks..

Enough about my life, GM is much more fun + easier :P.

Currently I'm working on about 3 projects at the same time - so at least 1 I should be able to finish..

I'm still working on my game tank, which (surprisingly?) is a top-down-shooter, but I lost lot's of code this year - I just couldn't find the place I stored the latest version of it on my pc anymore lol. So I might as well cancel it now.

secondly I'm working on a "pathfinding ai engine" - or better "engines". For 2 years already I've been reading lots about ai and I finaly decided to try something with gamemaker.

  • finished: A* pathfinding (with variable terrain costs)

  • currently doing: A* "clever" pathfinding engine. - for a pacman game :P - the enemies won't take the same "path", which results in you being surrounded :P

  • lot's and lot's of optamizing needs to be done! (currently 20*20 notes is the max you can have without lag) - might need help with this lol..

  • Dijksta's pathfinding (usefull for finding eg the a gold mine in rtses)

  • LBA* (life-based A* which is supposedly faster, though I need to read about this)

    I might actually publish a wip or example somewhere the next week!

    thirdly I'm working on a GM 7.0 version of "perftest".. which is a testing utility to measure the speed of (all) functions (see my previous blog entry for a link to the version for gm 6.1). - Dang just noticed the rating isn't 10/10 anymore :(.

    Well anyway lots of things to do for me. Just need to keep myself interested for some time..

    and well. If you count using the WC world editor + JASS…

    ow and I've also been pretty busy with mIRC scripting- was pretty far creating a "game" with it, but gave up when I had a bug somewhere in my code and I couldn't understand everything anymore.. (compared with the code editor of mirc scripting, is GM code editor + language a heaven lol, I was "forced" to use a k&r style there).
