Another Music Challenge

Posted by pounce4evur on Dec. 27, 2012, 4:38 a.m.

Hey guys. I just wanted to throw this out there, and see who's interested in, or has time for a music composition competition. Of course, this one would (hopefully) be a lot more organized than the last one, and I'll actually have time to sit down and judge this one, because I don't need to do Wintermester, seeing as I passed all my classes.

GIMME SOME IDEAS.

(don't anger the gods–these are PIECES.)

Deadlines

-January 5th (Start Date)

-January 22nd (Deadline)

Time Cap

Don't intentionally try to kill us with a 20-minute piece. If your piece runs a little long, that's fine, but please be aware of the fact that we've got to sit through and analyze every bit of your composition.

Theme

The theme is now Mystery!

**Decided to change this to a challenge, because coming up with a ranking system for music is really difficult and could prove to be unfair. Each piece will receive individual feedback, but will not be ranked or compared.

**********************************

EDIT:

Here's a list of the entries that have been posted thus far. I am posting ALL of the links that you guys have given us. If you want to scrap a piece, update/edit it, or don't want it to be critiqued, let me know.

@Charlie, are you sure? I remember giving it a listen and really liking it. I'd be more than happy to give feedback. It sounds mysterious enough to me.

Deadline is tomorrow right? Mmm I tried and tried but my music composing skills are -1, and my microphone doesn't haves the best quality o the world… but hey I will submit the best I made….

Also, and I forgot to mention this a while ago, I'm giving Kamira an extension because of technical difficulties. Understand that this means I'll only get to give feedback when I have time, so it might be a while. But if you absolutely must, you can ask for an extension.

As far as being self-conscious about your piece goes, that's what this challenge is for. We'll give you constructive criticism, and hopefully, that'll help you on your way to writing great music.

Music for the Tip of your Tongue

colseed 11 years, 11 months ago

pounce4evur 11 years, 11 months ago

Alright guys! Time to start turning stuff in! I'll start listening & giving feedback today, at around 1.

If you don't turn in your piece today, well…I don't really know what'll happen. I'll let you know. xD

Juju 11 years, 11 months ago

What time is it there? Some of us aren't in your wacky timezone.

Kamira 11 years, 11 months ago

Pounce is in… Mountain time, -7, so it's 7:35 where she is right now.

I will attempt a recording today. I won't have any homework really, but my accompanist might. Are there any good free sound editing programs?

So we've got 6 hours?

Try Audacity for chopping/changing/exporting to MP3. For nice effects and so on, try Reaper.
