Rant-n-Rave #26

These past two days I've had a cold. AGAIN. You'd think something like the common cold would be nothing to frown about, but boy do I hate the freaking things from hell.

I especially hate the congestion in the freaking nose. It's really, REALLY annoying when one nostril is congested and the other one isn't and even though I can breathe normally with one it really bugs me that the other nostril is pretty much dead. You also get those sinus headaches which I find to be the most annoying of all types of headaches (except migraines). Like some sort of air is in your head and causes this annoying pressure like a balloon or something.

Don't get me started on runny noses either. Mucus just randomly spills out of nowhere and I have to run to the nearest napkin/tissue in like 2 seconds before it becomes a mess. Quite awkward during class when you start running to the tissue box like a madman, so you stop doing that after like 3 times in the same day. Then the stupid mucus comes out again and you have to use your freaking hand which is absolutely disgusting. Or you could take a bunch of tissues to your seat but then you have mucus-filled tissues all over your hands which really doesn't make a difference.

I can't eat a thing in peace either. With no nose respiration, I can't taste, which pretty much beats the entire purpose of eating (eating sucks without tasting it). Then I'm in a quandary immediately after I food lodge in my mouth. I forgot that I can't BREATHE without my mouth, which I'm using freaking eat. So I have to struggle for breath like some sort of fish out of the water as I chew into the tasteless mound of doo that's supposed to be food (I can eat dog crap or caviar, the both taste like NOTHING).

On top of all that pile of crap, you have to sleep through the night with this. My nose gets ridiculously stuffed up when I'm lying down, which pretty much renders my entire nose useless. Then I get to breathe through my mouth. Oh boy, is that great? I wake up in the middle of the night, my mouth dry as hell from breathing through it and now I feel like I chewed on a piece of napkin for three hours. I have to get up and drink water. In fact, I have to get up and drink water every 5 minutes to get rid of the cold ASAP all day but then I have to pee every 5 minutes as well. During class, at home and during the night the freaking trips to the bathroom never stop. Then after breathing so much through my mouth I get a stupid sore throat.

Sore throats are on a league of their own in the realm of common colds. For one I can't eat chocolate (DAMN YOU!!) unless I want to cough like a chronic cigarette smoker for hours on end, then I can't even speak normally if I don't want to feel like I'm scraping my throat with sandpaper. And neither can I swallow without feeling the same sensation either, which I have to do like every two minutes in a pitiful attempt to get rid of the phlegm lodged in there. And no, I'm not freaking spitting the phlegm out. I want to punch the living daylights out of people whenever I see them doing that. So where do I spit it out to in the middle of a class? In a napkin that's already covered with mucus? In my hand? On the FLOOR? Heck, why don't I just take a dump on the floor, it's pretty much doing the same thing.

Yep, colds suck butt through a straw. There's just so many tiny little problems that it makes every day a living freaking hell. I'll be an eternal slave to whoever can figure out the cure for the common cold to end this Spanish inquisition.

I have practically no sinuses. I need surgery =/

Colds are hell for me too.

I hate allergies, colds and the like. Luckily I don't get sick often… maybe it's lack of exposure to the natural world. Haha.

I tend to forget how bad colds are when they're over, until I get another one.

When I cough it always cough like I've got a cold, ever since two years ago, it worries everyone else but me, so the coughing bit during a cold is pretty normal.

Um yea, colds suck.

I thought this would be about Virginia Tech… like anyone needs reminding.

I agree that sleeping with a cold is the worst, though.

I hate colds, you simply can't do anything while you're sick because you have to get a napkin every 2 seconds or try to breathe before your nose gets completely blocked.

Come on, that's not annoying, I can only breathe with one nostril because the other one is always blocked thanks to some sort of allergy….or something
