(The last of RockyRan) Project F-60

(NOTE: Apparently, editing a blog makes it DISAPPEAR completely from the front page. I reposted the blog seeing and deleted the other as I need people to see this one because of the "help wanted" deal with the music composers. There has already been two comments on the previous one, from Mageknight and a referral to him. I'm just saying to acknowledge that I read those two comments)

For those who haven't caught onto my "game-trio farewell"deal, refer to this blog to find out.

That being said, my project for the month of June will be Project F-60.

Started in 2006, Project F-60 is a scrolling shooter whose graphics and core gameplay are reminiscent of the glorious SNES era. The game resembles that of games like Axelay and R-Type III. Hopefully, fans of these games will also "dig" this one (that's my ultimate goal for this game).

The basic layout of the game will be similar to that of Contra III's. That is, no saving of any kind and once the player runs out of continues, he/she must start from the beginning of the game. No worries, because like Contra III, this game will have a manageable length. People should be able to finish this in one not-too-ridiculously-long sitting (I plan on 7 stages).

Here are some previously-released screenshots:

This game will have no demo released.

The starting progress on the game is of substantial amount. The instant that I dive into this game in June, there will already be 4 out of the 7 stages fully completed and 1 out of the 7 bosses fully operational. This is due to the fact that I started the game last year and I worked for a considerable amount of time on it. After completing the remaining stages and bosses, I'll only need to add basic things like start screen, basic options and menus.

I'm scheduling to re-enter the project in June 1st and I plan to finish it by June 30th.

ATTENTION ALL TRANCE/TECHNO/ELECTRONIC MUSIC COMPOSERS

I'm going to need someone to compose a soundtrack for the game consisting of no less than 7 tracks and no more than 14. I'm going to need short, loopable tracks of certain different moods to fit each stage and situation. I have existing commercial (from videogames and other techno artists) tracks in mind to serve as "inspiration" for the composer, seeing as I'd like a track to be similar to those that I picked. I need someone to work with me so that the tracks will be done by June 30th. I know it's a pretty short time for you to work on 7-10 tracks in one month, but I'll work with you if it gets just too impossibly hard to comply with the "deadline". If interested, PM me or post in here.

You just have to re-edit the blog and make it visible again

Thanks I'll keep that in mind.

I deleted the old one, so it's not like I'm double posting. I don't think the mods will go crazy.

Your games got a good oldschool style to it.

I like the looks of it (although I always associate Super Nintendo with platformers because those were the only games I had for it). It's really a shame to hear that one of the few game makers who knows what he's doing is leaving, but I guess that's life. I don't see why you can't keep on doing this as a hobby, no matter how much work you have. Even spending a few minutes on it every day and only releasing a game every couple years or so is okay, I think; look at clysm.

In the end, though, when you're sixty years old and you look back on your life, do you want to be able to say that you spent it doing what you wanted to do, or doing what everyone else told you you should do? I think if you really want to keep the hobby alive, it'll take some kind of sacrifice (whether that be time or money or whatever). I think it's worth it, though. As far as I know, you've only got one life to live, so live it well.

Sorry for preaching or whatever. Your game looks really good, I'm looking forward to it. I'd offer to compose, but I'm nowhere near fast enough.
