Yep. I spent too long figuring out how these floating point ciribots work…. and i just couldnt figure it out. so after reading about the 1000th tutorial, i find out that these numbers are not precise and can have some very large errors if not implemented properly. So i said SCREW THE STANDARD.

this is how im doing it: sign * (ipart + fpart);

simple. none of this exponent and mantissa crap. yeesh.

Also… its my girlfriends' birthday today! and yesterday… and tomorrow… yep thats just how it works. it sucks that her birthday is so close to the beggining of school, but then again statistically 22 million other people are in this same dillemma…. so i guess its not that bad.
