Punk Rock²³

SO for English we were writing shit, about shit, so I wrote this piece of shit:

——————————————————

There was a time when I used to classify myself as “Punk Rockâ€? and I still like to think about myself like that. But in this day and age it’s impossible to do so, the meaning of punk has changed over the years and has degraded to a horrible form of music that I refuse to associate myself with. New bands such as Greenday and Fall Out Boy claim to be punk rock, but it’s just not the same. These bands also have loyal fans who claim to be punk while bashing all the real punk bands (except for the Ramones, but who doesn’t like the Ramones?). The problem is that now days ¼ of people claim to be punk while only somewhere around 1/32 people really like punk music. I can have a conversation with someone for the first time and if they ask what my favorite genre of music is I feel complied to say “Punk Rockâ€? but this usually yields a response along the line of “Wow cool, me too. My favorite punk bands are My Chemical Romance and Anti-Flagâ€?. I can’t take these people, they have degraded the best kind of music into a horrible sub genre (which is mostly referred to as “Pop Punkâ€?). The problem is that I do not like these bands, I do not like Greenday, I do not like Fall Out Boy, I do not like Rise Against, I do not like… Well you get the point, if I had to name my top favorite punk artists it would probably be something like this: The Sex Pistols, Crass, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Elvis Costello, The Adverts, and The Clash. Even though there are many more, those would have to be my favorite. Of course people would probably laugh at me and say something like “That’s not punk music, that’s dumb old musicâ€?, since when dose being old make music bad. Some of the best rock artists are old, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix; but no, these people insist that what was punk 30 years ago is not punk now. Let me ask you, if there was another French Revolution would the old French Revolution cease to be called the French Revolution? No. So why would punk, which originated in the 60’s cease to be punk, you can’t change history. But these people are so persistent, they are literally hell-bent on being “the punk rockersâ€? when they don’t even like punk rock, they want to rebel, what is there to rebel against? This is not like punk back in the 60’s-70’s where God Save the Queen was blacklisted and removed from the number one charts just because the government didn’t like it. People nowadays disgust me with their little fads and new music that is supposed to be “original and non-conformistâ€?. And whenever a pop-punk band tries something a little new to get more fans, people call them sell-outs, what exactly are they selling out from? The music industry is dead, it’s all about the money now, we should call it “The Money Industryâ€?.

Err, I torrented AudioSurf, it's…… Beautiful :D, can't play online though, but a lot of people can't, hopefully I'll get that fixed. And I almost beat Cave Story, I flew out on the Dragon then decided "Fuck that" and loaded it up again, now I'm at Misery and The Doctor. Great game, I'm thinking about making a game sort of like Cave Story where a girl slays zombies, but in an entirely diffrent style, more realistic with some fantasy.

-Sk8 out

PS: If nobody says they are in for ST I'm disbanding the whole idea.

Scanning the title of the blogs, I thought this said "Post Rock." Then I realized who was writing it.
