Load Your Music Up Onto This

So I actually started work on a new game, wanted to go for something like JW's QQUAK but controlled by music. So far after a little bit of work I have a pretty little room that bounces around, and you can move it in, not sure where to go from here, but try if out if you want and post ideas.

Download in the pic!

WASD and Mouse to look/move

Some file formats aren't supported, not sure which ones

Feedback is cool, leave some…

Hmm. The sxms dll was undefined. Threw the error right away. I tried running as administrator, in xp mode, and redownloading. :/

loaded one of my favorite songs and had an amazing experience, syncs to the music quite well, lights cutting on and off at appropriate times etc. the only thing was it kinda got confused when the music would switch to triplets :P and it got basically pitch black when no beat was going sometimes, but still, you should make a game out of this :D

Yeah, the way I have it analyze the song is it picks a high end and compares everything in that channel to the high end, and changes it constantly so beats will keep playing. So at the beginning it should pick up like crazy but as it levels out the notes should die a little and fade out during slow parts. I think I'm going to add a decay function to the high end number to even it out.

Also AG, I'm not sure what the problem is, if someone in xp could verify it working in xp that would be awesome.

This is in Game Maker? I didn't know GM could analyze audio like that…

(Can't give it a try myself, sorry)

That's what Fmod and Sxms are for. Check them out Poly, you would really dig it.

It was neat, but my audio crackled. Not sure what that's about.

Nice, I've been wanting something like this to play around with.

FMOD is a very powerful GM extension. I only just started using it, and I'm very impressed.
