Unlock GradeBook (GradeQuick) Files!

Posted by smarttart62 on Jan. 26, 2008, 11:21 p.m.

This is simply the process by which you (without my java application) can add yourself as a user to gradequick, unlock the files, and change grades.

1. In gradequick's main directory is a file called "users.txt". Open it, and at the bottom add yourself a username and home directory (following prior examples).

2. Open up gradequick, and try logging in as your new user. You can create a password now.

3. Open up a gradebook in a hex editor. If the first two bytes read "NO" then the file is not locked, just open it through gradequick and change grades. If the first three bytes read "YES" then simply change the "Y" to a "N" and the "E" to a "O" and delete the "S" byte.

4. Save it and open it in gradequick (file->open gradebook).

I'd be more specific, but I don't have gradequick sitting in front of me. Should be simple enough to follow.

Enjoy,

-Steve
