Hello everyone for a first time!
I have been using (for seeking good games) this website for a long time, but now I joined myself! Reason for this is my first public game project. I announced it on the Game Maker Community forums about a week ago, but I thought that I'll add it here too. Project is not yet approved by 64digit staff at the moment of writing this, but in a meanwhile, it will appear :)So, the game info:Stukptur8bit-Metroid style (retro) platform explorationCurrent version that I just announced today is beta-15.05.07.Stukptur is greatly inspired by 2D Metroid games and Legend of Zelda -series. Actually it will be more like Metroid, but there will be puzzles and riddles like in Zelda's. I just love Zelda's and solving all the puzzles in there.Currently Stukptur is just a techdemo. I'm developing new content all the time, but I think I have to stop planning it for now and concentrate on bug hammering and finishing the game. I have so many ideas, but if I try to add all those in to the game, I'm sure that I'll never get it finished. So when I have enough ideas, I choose best ones and develop them in to the game engine. After the engine is done, I concentrate on level design. I'm designing different kinds of puzzles and going to use them in levels. When I started this project, I thought that I'll make something like 4 big areas to explore and in every area you have to find several important items and upgrades so at the end of each area, you can defeat boss. But now I'm thinking of making just one or two big areas and one boss, so I can finish this some time :DMy biggest bad is that I just plan games too much and I get enough of it and never finish actual game…Oh and I almost forgot! I really like your banner for its simplicity and color scheme.
And i feel ya with the whole never finishing an actual game. Keep it simple.I like the style of the game so far. I hope you add more variety of colors and add maybe a frame or two to the walk animation. It only ran a max 17 fps for me. My computer is a bit old, but for such simple graphics, what's making it run so slow? Also, where'd the name come from? Thanks!
Yes I had to make it in the game so it can read 9 rooms close to each other at the same time. That's why it is so slow. But that may be a temporary solution to it. With that setting it fixes some big bugs easily, but drops FPS down a lot…Walk animation is purposely made so it has only two frames :D But if it looks too bad, I may draw frame or two there.Oh that name? I just made up it! Stukptur sound mystic and cool, eh? ;)haha wow, stukputr is rad. keep working on it. the only thing i can really say is that i'd like to see the main player sprite changed, for some reason it just doesn't look right, and the jump mechanics feel kind of off. otherwise, this is pretty good
