[108] Whew!

Posted by takua108 on Aug. 10, 2006, 12:01 p.m.

So last night my mom Googled me (my real name) and found like a bajillion hits all over the web. My name is right up there, in my GameCave banner, so as you can see, it's not that common of a name. In fact, there's only one other person in the whole world with the same name as me, and he lives in Chicago.

Basically my parents freaked, and now they're making me go around the 'Net and remove all copies of my name that can be Googled. Well…they want me to remove all copies of my name period, but they can't Google for the content of an image, can they?

Thankfully 64Digits didn't show up in the search because they would've destroyed me if they saw my blog. I removed the only mention of my last name in this blog, so meh.

Anyways, in awesome news, I'm glad that 64Digits is back online. Halibutski is trying to create the world's longest blogs. You should go check them out.

Also, I'm adding a [108] tag to my blogs from now on. Why? I dunno. I feel like it.

My website is coming along nicely. We have twenty-one retarded Flash movies, a functioning PHP news, movie rating, and statistics system, and the whole thing is in an Ajax pseudoframeset. I think I've done well on it, but there's still a long way to go. You can visit it <a href="http://www.thetyphooncorp.com">here</a>.

Please stop by, as the statistics page (reachable by clicking on the "#### Hits and Counting!" at the bottom of each page) logs what browser each person is using (by recording your IP address so you don't cheat and make IE6 come in first by visiting the page repeatedly), and puts it in a really sweet pie-chart. I did all the coding for the whole website, except for the actual drawing of the graphs; I got an awesome free library called Jpgraph to do that.

In TOPDOWN news, I'm close to releasing a new demo in EXE <i>and</i> GM6 format, and I've made a bunch of improvements over v09. v10 touts semi-good graphics (you're not a ball anymore, but an actual person), a weapon reloading system, melee weapons that actually work, and the ability to throw your crowbar (you have to pick it up afterwards to use it again).

Not that anyone will download it or anything.

What's so wrong with publicity like that?

Wait… if you google my name you get three hits - one for a website of mine that no longer exists, one for the ADSA (Alberta Debate and Speech Association), where I was contestant in the provincials, and one for a completely unrelated person in a venezualian site.

Wow if you google my name you get 75 pages worth of resultes. Turns out almost all of them are about a guy that writes medical books.

If you google mine you get some boxer or something.

When my parents found out I was working on a game with someone I didn't know, they flipped too. They are weird.

I like the [108] idea. It makes it easier to find which blogs to skip, XD

You have 5 pages of results for your name, takua, and only about a quarter of them are relevant.

I never give my full name on the internet, well, few times, and since it is a common name…
