Long time no post: Studio Edition

Hey guys,

How are things here? Don't get to check in that often. Still just working and banding (its as sexy as it sounds).

My band (Slums of Utopia, facebook that shit if you like this, we got all of 4 likes or something) is working on our first real demo. We have around 13 songs total but it turns out actually recording and producing good music takes a really long time, so only 4 tracks will probably make it on there. Then on to the live game this summer.

We are alt rock I guess, I love QOTSA, RHCP, TOOL, Incubus, Boards o' Canada, trip hop, etc.

Here's a really close to final mix of one of the songs off our demo. I think it turned out pretty damn unique. Probably close to 65 hours from live tracking the drums, bass, and rhythm, guitar and vocal overdubs, and mixing (holy shit snacks mixing takes forever but is well worth it).

Hope y'all enjoy it. Self produced, start to finish. Feedback welcome!

Tyler

Edit: Still need a good, old-fashioned master, so if it doesn't pop as much as you'd expect, don't worry.

excellent! i really like the solo break in the middle. i definitely hear the Boards of Canada influence. the quality is good, reminds me a bit of old 70s jam music, but clearer quality. very organic sounding. looking forward to more!
