A Faded Lineage

I'm using RPG Maker VX for my game, and I must say it's kind of cool! Obviously the title to my game is Legends of Myths A Faded Lineage. I've got a female main character (Arabella) supported by several others, one is a male vampire (Vincent). These two develope a romance together…but can it last? The world is called "Fayte" made up with several continents but are referred to as "regions", i.e. "northern region, western region".

A unique skill system I thought of for Vincent is called his "soul" skill, basically when you defeat a living creature there's a random chance that it will drop a soul orb item after which Vincent can "absorb" to gain the creature's ability for him to use. There's also soul orbs that can raise his attributes.

There are a few evil villains that wreak havoc in the world, a group called "The Three". The Three are essentially the "dark spawns" from the dark emporer and have supernatural abilities. They are aiding the evil Baron Skylos to help resurrect the ancient war-like race, the Ragori. The Ragori were created by the God out of jealousy because the Goddess became close to the human race of Fayte.

I'll update this later and provide some screenshots, hopefully!

The image above is the first town you'll start in, it's called "Von Sol".

Here are some drawings I made for enemies that appear in some random battles: Left: One Eyed, center: Ravenous Arachnid, right: Vulture.

Sword of Sol, perhaps? It is a weapon in the game that you get, but you need to locate the fragments and then have it reforged.

I love you Rob, but cut it out. Go be mean with Cesque somewhere else. I hear LAR has some puppies you can insult. =3

Try to think outside the box… do something that hasn't been done before. Because everything you've thought of so far is extremely generic and has been done a million times. Even your "unique skill system" has been done a million times.

Hey I see what everyone is saying about being generic. :) I love feedback, but I have two notebooks full of stuff for the past 10 yrs and I'm not going to completely change things lol! Making tweaks is ok, but I have a story that I'm going to stick with, what I posted was just a tid bit of info. Just give it a chance, I just want to put the words to life! I realize things are done a million times over, but what sets them apart from each other is creativity and ideas behind it all and people still enjoy them! I realize this "game" may not be super, but it's an experience I want to try and enjoy with everyone!

Oooo! Wait, how about this for a title: "A Faded Lineage". A bigger part of the story revolves around the telling of the struggle between the jealous God and the protective Goddess and the mysterious disappearance of a race the people refer to as the "ancients".

UGH!

Gosh.

No wonder it's so generic.

You spent 10 years playing generic RPGs, so everything your story has is generic RPG cliche.

Do something different!

I do enjoy your God/Goddess background, however, almost everything else I've seen written here has been completely overdone.

Please do understand our feedback isn't trying to put down everything you've written the past years, but if I were you, I'd grab those notebooks, soak em' in gas, and set em aflame. Because to be honest, I don't really look forward to playing another cliche RPG.

Take it from me, man. I've had some ideas that have been around for quite a while (try twelve years now). However, in order to avoid being terribly cliche, and in order to make the story even better, sometimes things just have to be done. You'll have to scrap fun characters and rework the entire story, rather than just a few scenes. I rewrote this story three times and I'm only now happy with how it turned out. I look back at the old versions with utter dread.

The real challenge is being able to handle that loss. And the real skill is coming up with something mind-blowingly innovative. Tell us something we wouldn't find in any old JRPG.

Ok! I'll go through those dusty notebooks again and see what I can do. ;) To be honest the God/Goddess thing inspired me a couple weeks ago. Cool! Thanks guys!
