It seems like every time I decide to write a Blog is just to advertise myself and the things I do or don't.
Well, this time is about the Cage Match ,a weekly competition that is on the GMC forums that,as far as I know, has been inactive for some time and are now trying to bring back to life .The point is that my game,The Power, has been chosen to go head to head against Robie Swifthand by scream681 on the current Cage Match. This got me completely of guard since I was on vacation on the weekend and was unaware of the Cage Match competitions. I'm happy to be on the competition and see that my game is getting a bit more attention.Since the 64digits community was such a great help to me during the creation of this game I thought I should write about this here. If anyone would like to know more about the Cage Match just hit the following link: http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=392794 Also tomrussell wrote a very extensive and detailed review about The Power in his Russell's Quarterly magazine. If you like reading a lot you can download all the issues here:http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=359235&hl= The review is in issue #3. Also Game's Radar had this "365 days of free games" special and The Power made it to the list under the "press up to jump" category. There are many other Game Maker creations there ,cactus, for example, has so many games that he has a category for himself. The download link takes me to 64digits,so I just have to thank you all again for helping me on the creation of this game.Hit the following link if you would like to check it out:http://digg.com/search?section=all&s=365+days+of+free+games Well,I won't bother you all anymore with my selfish and self promoting entries.Good night.
It's exhilarating, having your game recognized by the public like that, isn't it? I had a game in the cage match once - it won a round, lost the next round, and that was the end of it. Still, having one's own work go up against the best of the best is an amazing feeling.
Wonderful accomplishment, alex.Good luck in the cage match, you're up against some tough competition. The Power deserves the attention it's been getting.
I voted for you :)
Thank you people for the awesome feedback.I'm happy just to be on the cage match. And it makes me happy to see the game getting more attention. Also , thanks for voting.
I voted for ya, good luck.
I voted, I hope you win.
I had to put a nullvote. Swifthand has more atmosphere and the workings of it are more cohesive. But the linear gameplay really should of been nonlinear. That's what made The Power so good. Swifthand has atmosphere from everything besides the gameplay. I'm there and thinking "I'm in a temple of ages unfound, and I'll just walk from left to right without a feeling of exploration"
So ya, The Power has better gameplay but Swifthand seems to have everything else…The more I think about it, the more I feel aligned towards The Power. I'll have to figure out some way to rectify this mishapVoted for ya ^_^
Thanks for the votes people.
serprex:may I suggest a coin toss?Whatever happens you just blame the coin.Unfortunately I'm foolish enough to click "Null Vote", thus forcing upon myself neutrality. I had forgotten the perfect length of everything
