NOTE: This is the first play mode so is meant to be easy and get boring fast but it should give you the hang of the game and get you enough points to unlock the first play mode when is done , but just so you know I did updated this mode a bit to make it slightly harder .
The Invaders have reached our fine planet and they are here to … well , with a name like that , what do you expect ? They are here to invade . Communication has been established and it seems that they only do it because they think is good sport . That is just wrong and so you have to convince them to leave in peace or at least to learn to live with us . Your only weapon will be a ULT ( universal language translator ) that translates what may seem like simple words into all sorts of alien languages . Type fast and free the earth from this invasion . That is the best story I could come up with . Anyways , Right now you can play for as long as you survive . Press R to restart and ESC to quit . Your goal is to accumulate points that will unlock other play modes like NUMBERS , MATH , MIX , etc . Only WORD mode is available now and you jump right into it . The graphics are very Atari-like ? and so are the sounds … I think . As you can already tell this is one of those typing training/games/things . This has to be the most casual game I've ever tried to make and I am also hoping to enter it into Game Jolt's Axiom Contest . I will base it on a twisted version of the Axiom " actions speak louder than words " namely " words speak louder than actions " . I wanted to call the game Typing Invaders but is already taken by that guy over there . I sure hope you like educational/casual stuff . Continue demands should include first waveI should be able to say continue preemptively during the whole well done madnessDifficulty curve seeming a bit slow on all fronts (Invader speed (I want to almost be guessing at what those fast moving words are spelt as (Perhaps you need a crazier font?)), word length, word variety, & comeon, let's see some of those French accented words)Input should also allow for level selectThese kind of things need to be streaming and easy on use. I shouldn't have to hit enterStar background would be nicer if it had some parallax going onHitting backspace should work, but jam the input for a short timeBit of a total remake: Have the player command a character around to target The Invaders, their name being used in the commands. Something like a person at the center of the screen, somehow being rotated and then having them shoot letters, which darken the letters of The Invader it strikes. So XYST would have to be hit in the order of X,Y,S,TS , how are you man ? I thought you were dead or something .
Anyways , I know this is underwhelming so I already fixed it a bit .Also I forgot to mention that this is the first play mode so is meant to be easy and get boring fast but it should give you the hang of the game and get you enough points to unlock the first play mode . But there will be better and harder play modes .The game just jump into the action because is very early and incomplete but there will be menus and such later .Level select ? not making much sense there Not pressing enter is just dumb , how do i punish you for writing the wrong thing then ? You will actually be punished automatically because an empty or 1 letter word is valid and counts as miss so that wont work at all , you have to press enter .Parallax background sounds like a great , I will try to implement it .Also , I'm finally coding and not using D&D .Given a four letter Invader, you would take whatever the player has once they've input four letters. You'll actually end up punishing them more often
Level select would be to skip earlier levels, but it's seeming you've gone rather procedural so it's perhaps unneededOn the usage of GML, it shows a bit in the graphical styleAs for the first question, I'm doing most wonderfully. Socializing outside of the internet and all. Dropped GM and now I just poke around with Python. But yes, perfection. In other words, I met the nonpareilMy GML shows in my graphics ? You are just mocking me , aren't you ?
Anyways is good to hear that you are doing good for yourself . I once took a look at Python but that doesn't work for a hobbyist like me so I'm just gonna stick to my GM . Glad to hear from you man ,take care .
