So, last night I was up late as usual. I was at the PC doing what I usually do (Game-making, spriting, etc). when I heard this noise like a wailing screech and my computer was starting to lag terribly. It was my secondary HDD (The one with Windows on it) and it was failing… badly…
I crashed the PC, took the old HDD out (Which was scorching hot) and put a spare in. I had to reinstall Windows from a backup image on my primary HDD (I know it's weird having Windows on my second drive, but never mind that). I lost a lot of data, but none of my new-games/demos. Which brings me to this:http://64digits.com/users/Mega/Cycore.zipTry it out if you like. It's the game with the green stickman etc. No more dots. The controls are:Z to jump, X to shoot, A to switch special weapons, S to use special weapons. And you can use a gamepad. Just plug one in and it'll work. The first time you play, you should use the Reset Data command.
Not bad, although the player character seemed kinda dull. Making the bullet's speed relative to the player would also help. Good starting point, I like the general atmosphere, and it's always nice to hear Streambolt music, even though it didn't quite fit your game, as it seems to focus on exploring more than killing stuff.
Here's a D: regarding your HD.lol sounds like fun xD that probably would have scared the crap out of me. how did you know it was the harddrive so quickly? i would be pissed, i only have one harddrive so if i lose it, all my stuff is gone D=
Trust me, when you hear a harddrive going, you KNOW it's the harddrive. The CPU/GPU definitely won't make that type of noise.
lol well i guess that does make sense. the hard-drive would probably make more noise then anything else. i wonder what happened to it though o_o
though i've heard disc drives making crazy sounds before too. they scare me so i just remove the whole thing and get a new one lol.my friend had a problem just like that before, said it was acting up and one day when he came home, the harddrive was melted to the frame lol xD (he lived in an unventilated attic though)anyway at least you got a back up so that's good and you didn't lose anything.I call my roommate's girlfriend the Screeching Midnight Banshee because her moans are load demonic screams that sound as if a banshee was taking residence here.
lol.
Anyway, I should have an updated demo up end of next week. I hope.
