Taking some time off

Posted by Astryl on March 18, 2012, 5:11 a.m.

I logged into 64digits today, and everything was looking a little… slow. So I went and checked up on the other sites I'm a member of… and realized that I belong to a ton of them.

Before I go on, anybody who didn't listen to this last time should listen to it now and hate it in the comments either on the video page or here.

For some reason I have a Tumblr account. This annoys me. Also, Google Blogs. WTF? Twitter I can understand, since I still remember creating the account. Two South African Game Development forums that I joined and never posted on (Fixed that), Youtube (Uploaded the video above), DeviantArt, SoundCloud, BandCamp, ChipMusic, 8BC, WayOfThePixel, Gamejolt (Bleh), GameDev.net… probably some more if I do a little digging.

Argh. Blog/Media-site/Forum overload.

My game is coming along at the speed of darkness. Put simply: I've gotten nowhere further on it, because I'm still trying to fit the bloody transvestites into the picture. Curses.

Anyway, I'm off to do something useful for a while.

*Hands a Guinness to everybody who read the blog*

Programming relieves you of stress/calms you down? Shit man. You clearly haven't programmed enough…
Is there something wrong with the fact that I find game development and programming relaxing? Because I do. What stresses me out is the eternal jobhunt, and the douches you have to deal with while searching.

There is something wrong. You're a monster. >:(

Programming is supposed to be satisfying and fun. If it's not challenging you and making you want to kill something, you're either the most amazing programmer in the world who doesn't even know what a bug looks like, or you take way too many drugs.

As a hobbyist, I find programming pretty relaxing as well…

Is it relaxing like curling up with a girl and watching a movie, or is it relaxing like sitting down and losing yourself in it for hours? 'cause I can relate to the latter.

I get anxious if I'm not creating something, so it can be less stressful than watching a movie.

I concur. I always have to be working on something. Games only go so far, and god forbid working on homework.

Damnit guys, stop saying things that contradict my comment, that I agree with. >_<

64Digits has spoken. Your argument is invalid. :P

Although I also relate to the sitting down and losing oneself for hours thing. Happens all the time.
