At work...

Yeah, I'm at work. Just yesterday I was thinking 'It'd be great if I had a laptop here'. Guess what? Now I do, in addition to that accursed iPad. :P

Either way, now that I have a laptop on hand, I can upload a picture of the shop:

In addition to that, the shop has a 2mbps internet connection.

Time to download everything!

Or not, It's heavily capped. :P

Oh well. Time to make the best use of my emulated game library.

Aye. Which is a lot healthier than the water we get from our municipality. Makes people sick.

I fail to be impressed by your 2Mbps connection, given that the public one at my work is 100Mbps…

@flashback I don't think it's meant to be impressive, he's just happy he's not on dial-up

Dial-up as a concept terrifies me.

I had to put up with that until near the end of 2009…

The speed wasn't the worst part either (and it was bad, it didn't even reach the 56kbps it was supposed to, usually 32kbps-40kbps, or sometimes 48kbps.. and then the actual downloads weren't even 4kB/s@32kbps connect speed, they were more like 2-3KB/s, and then 4KB/s if you managed to luck out and connect at 48kbps, instead of 6KB/s), it was the fact that it blocked the phone line, and we only had one line.

yay bottled water! in the US it's so pointless to have it. Perfectly fine water comes out of the tap yet so many people buy bottled water. I just fill up gallon-sized jugs from the faucet and put them in the refrigerator so that they're cold. not sure why anyone else does any different.

50ft telephone line we had to carry across the living room floor every time we wanted to use the internet.

Ours was only 15 feet or so, but the clip that plugged it in broke off so for a year or so every time our goddamned dog would run through dragging her bed around, she would take the phone cable with her, since there was nothing clipping it into my computer. There's nothing like waiting 4 hours for a 40MB download, only to have the dog run past when it was at 98% and unplug the internet. Or having your parents want to use the phone when the download is almost done…

That is largely based on where you live. Our tap water is pretty disgusting.
