That timelapse I was going to upload...

Is still uploading. It'll show shortly.

There. Speaking of that, if I actually make this game into, ya know, a proper game (As in: It has a clear goal), I am definitely going to include the ability to 'bypass' doors/security as shown in my avatar.

If you wonder what the blinking text says, it's "REPROGRAMMING". Yup. Like a boss.

Anyways…

Printing

I'm proud of myself. I fought today with WinAPI and GDI, and came out on top; I managed to print something.

The other day, I made a report processor program that reads in one of our ShopKeep reports, and turns it into something useful. To make it easier for the other people in the shop, I decided to automate and prettify it somewhat; hence, it now has a minor GUI and the ability to print. Yay.

And just so you know: Printing is pathetically easy to do, but a pain in the ass to get right. Now I have to resort to scouring the internet in order to find some formatting information…

When I watch this, I wish I could sprite as good as you, and script the entire movement+sprite code without testing.

Looking pretty spiffy, dude.

You should try my spriting technique of drawing new frames in yellow lines before redrawing, it works like onion skinning and makes for cleaner looking sprites.

What FPM do you record at?

@Pirate-rob: After a while, the mechanics of the platformer scribe themselves into ones mind. I can write the basic platformer in my sleep, though the ability to have a two-part combo punch doesn't hurt either :P

@Charlie Carlo:

I used to do that, but I found the method I use easier (Make rough and dirt animations first, clean and shade them later).

I used Chronolapse to record the timelapse, which records a frame every 5 seconds under my current settings, and plays it back at 10FPS.

That was pretty cool. how much time in total was it?

Astryl 12 years ago

Somewhere around the one hour mark.

that's a good sprite for that amount of time, especially for the animation work. In one hour, i usually fix one minor bug or create one short level lol. or a crap set of tiles.

though personally i think your avatar animates a bit too fast.

EDIT: wow just realized it said "an hours work" on the video lmao xD

When I tested it in GIMP, and in Windows Explorer, it was fine… until I uploaded it to the internet, then Firefox decided that the delays I had set weren't good enough, and halved them…

Will you be uploading another timelapse?

Astryl 12 years ago

Probably. When I have something to record.

I have a couple others on my YT channel.
