Advice sought

Posted by Astryl on Oct. 26, 2012, 2:51 a.m.

Right. I AM COMMITTED TO THIS. Tomorrow, I want to make my first narrated video, the first in a series about Famitracker and how to use it, as promised.

Now I need some advice. Nothing to do with the actual -content- of the video, I know what I'm going to say (err, err, um, fuck, repeat).

My problem lies with the recording of the audio. For obvious reasons, I want to capture both the Stereo Mix and the Microphone. I don't want to have to do a passive narration.

Now, having never done this before in my life, I have to ask: how the hell am I going to do this?

So yeah, advice please :3

Make the microphone's recording volume so loud you can hear it over the Stereo Mix?

Eh. Kinda not the problem. I need to test out different audio configurations to actually mix the Mic input and Stereo Mix at the same time, which on my new sound card, doesn't work the way I want it to.

EDIT: Oh, great Cyrus, thou hast solved my problem. I would be forever in thy debt, but thy visage is too cute. *fetches moar dragons*

Use screencap software, there's bunch out there - get it to record audio coming out the main output. Use headphones to listen to the main output. Record the microphone off the line-in using Audacity. Don't engage listen-back.
