Well, it's my weekend off (Every weekend is a weekend off for me, for now).
So I went along with my dad, brothers and one of my sisters to the nearby Mall In The Middle Of Nowheretm. And it was madness (First weekend in the month, all shops already beginning Christmas specials)… Anyway, having my salary, I decided to browse for PC games at the few shops that stock them (Two in total). I saw nothing new, though I almost bought the Doom 3 Special Edition; then decided against it at the last minute.Guild Wars 2 was also somewhat tempting, but fortunately I remembered in time that my monthly data limits will become practically non-existent if I get caught up in an MMO. They didn't have Borderlands 2 (Which I wanted to try), nor Starcraft 2 (Which I've wanted to buy for a -long- time); I almost bought the new Transformers game (Fall of Cybertron), but decided to leave it until I see the first reviews.I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the store I was in at the time was selling remakes of the old Sega Game Gear, with most of the classic games for it built in. I'm going to get a few for my siblings next month…Then I saw the console rack. Five minutes later I left the store with a DS Lite, and two games. I'm crazy. But anyways, it'll keep me busy at work when I'm sitting around with nothing to do (A sizable portion of my day, regrettably).Why a DS Lite? Because it was cheaper than the XL, DSi, and 3DS. By a large margin. Also, it can play old GBA games; I can still buy those around here. :3Anyway, the two games I got were Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass and Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. Start recommending more games, if you can. I need to build a collection!NaNoWriMo progressNone. My prologue is still on paper. Need to type it out, then carry it on.Nand2Tetris progressAlso none. Downloaded the slide PDF's instead of the book chapters…Mystery Game progressGot the beginnings of a soundtrack, a tileset, and a decently sized design document. Still not a platformer.Oh yeah, it's my birthday in a week and a bit. I'll finally drop the teen bit from my age and gain the right to grow a freakin' beard. Or not. I'd get fired. But hey, it's a thought….
Those are two good games you got. If you were in the mood for shopping for PC games, might I suggest Dark Souls because it's currently 50% off right now on amazon. However I only recommend doing this if you have a controller. Bless FromSoftware's heart for porting it to PC, but damn, this is their first time working with the PC and frankly Dark Souls has way too many important controls to map to your keyboard and mouse. Also the mouse moves vertically in a very jaggedy way, right now I'm playing it with 2 hands on the keyboard until I can get a controller. Still one of my favorite games though.
@ferret
+1 for Dark SoulsBut only if you have a gamepadWait theres a shop around here selling Sega game gear? Awesome!
Also You're just in time for 2012 season 5 for starcraft 2!Nooooo i missed the Dark Souls sale :(
i checked it out last night and was like "awesome, i'll download that tomorrow" but the sale is already gone!As for shopping, i never shop. Only for groceries obviously but nothing else unless i need it. Only games i've bought for a while now have been on Steam and i tend to stick with the sales only approach.Also i can't recommend any DS game. i don't really like any of em. Only games i played and liked were Mega Man ZX. (i thought that Zelda game sucked @$$)I'm finding it somewhat annoying with it's reliance on the touchscreen. Fire Emblem is another matter, though, and is just my type of game :D
I bought fire emblem: shadow dragon yesterday o.o $15 at a buy 2 get 1 free sale. Advance wars: dual strike is one of my favorite DS games, since your looking for suggestions. Mario & Luigi games are also excellent.
