A remix of a cover (And a new original tune)

UPDATE: New 'tune

Whipped this up last night. Uses a few new tricks to sound more interesting.

Original blog post

I was bored yesterday, and almost posted this…

Then my sister turned the router off… Armageddon ensued…

Or not. I was too lazy to turn it back on again…

Anyway, I remixed a cover of an old NES theme from that old game Jackie Chan Adventure. Stupid game, interesting music.

I went and decided to spice it up a bit, make it somewhat more like something you'd hear in a Megaman game, perhaps.

Anyway, here's the remix:

And here's the original cover, if you're interested in comparing:

While I'm here, I may as well talk about one of my new projects. I'm still tweaking Exile a bit, but that's secondary to another project i"m trying to pull off. I'm not going to talk too much about the project 'cept to say that it's 2D, not a platformer, not NES style, and is a remake of one of my games from 2010, just with a bit more ambition attached.

I'm building it on top of the same engine that I used for Exile. I decided I needed a particle system. Because the game I'm making kinda calls for that.

Ignore the 'RPG' at the top of the screen. I didn't bother changing the window title.

The only other thing I'll say is that I've got a 45KB design document going into major detail, from the top-level abstract ideas I have right down to the individual sprites I need to make, and each frame for them (Including projected time required for each frame).

For now, I creep back to my evil lair to continue plotting my Dastardly Designs for Devious Dominationtm.

Why did she turn off the router?

Because sisters are evil.

"Caffeine fueled" is definitely an apt tag! I do dig it, though. Your drums kick ass in new and exciting ways.

Bumped because of new stuff.

@fsx: What death said, more or less. She also tries her hardest to use up the data limit by watching YT videos in HD, playing Flash games all day, and generally leeching wherever possible. The rest of us spend our days trying to stop her.

@mr8bit: Thanks. :3

lol D4. I like your particles, they're pretty.

Also songs, I need to listen to them, hold on…

Epic as usual. I wish I had some cash to make purchase of an album by you. You totes deserve to make money from such awesome music. Probably after Christmas.

Guh, I hate doing that, it makes the project seem set in stone when it should be open to new, creative ideas all the time.

Vague outlines are a better alternative. I still don't even know what Credence Filter's gameplay is going to be like. I should get to that.

Holy shit that new track rules. The lead melody is awesome and builds really well. What's up with the funktempo? Is that some kind of a swing function or something?

Yeah. For that one, I alternated between Speed 6 and Speed 3 on seconds, using the F06 and F03 effects.

Thanks. That means a lot to me.

Oh, it's definitely not set in stone. I've already tweaked it a bit, but it's more of a firm guideline than a definitive set of rules.

Are you remaking a game you posted on 64digits?

Astryl 11 years, 12 months ago

*glances at submitted games list*

Nope.
