Let's cut to the chase. Here's a GIF of the boss animations from my Jam game:
Since GM5 doesn't like alpha and that's what I used to make this, there are some artifacts…But anyway, after making this, I decided it was high time I try to animate something more complicated. Here's the result:If I had a tablet, patience, and a good animation program… Yeah. I'd be doing more of this. This is a development of my usual avatar, which was originally a character for a game I never made (Who looked like Boba Fett). Inspiration drawn from Accel World. Oh, and I'm probably not going to be able to finish my jam game too soon. The Google Code Jam is starting on Friday… And I'm starting to panic.
I like the second one, the first one is horribly sloppy and lazy.
I don't understand how you use alpha to make an animation.
Originally it was a bunch of separate sprites. The sprites have the alpha channel. GM5 doesn't know what an alpha channel is. I forgot that, but was too lazy to go reassemble the sprites.
you did these during a jam? that's quite impressive. although i do agree with charlie that the first one is a little sloppy. (you can see some pixels were the arm used to be during some frames) still not too bad.
