A blog. Have one. They're free.

Battle of the Holy River… one of my absolute favorite Castlevania themes.

Anyway, I decided to not leave. I'm too lazy to remove 64Digits from my list of pinned tabs.

But enough of that.

I drew a new avatar, spurred to action by Iasper, for a completely unrelated thing.

It's a self portrait (My computer has a mirror behind it, so if I crane my neck, I see something scary). I took artistic license and shaved my beard off, because I'm no good at drawing beards.

Anyway…

Hunter progress

Just leaving this here for now. Will add it to Kilin's next progress blog.

I added sword animations and such to the player, as well as a little speed boost when you hit the third slash, mostly because it feels nice :P

Still need to add the motion trail though. Adds more force to the movement.

I may or may not complete the Soul Hunter armor. I'm leaving it for now and focusing on important things. Like the gameplay. Enemies too. Otherwise I'll change the game's name to Rat Hunter.

Game-a-phone progress

I'm going to be vague here. I did stuff, I cut stuff, I raged, I drew stuff. I'm still raging, and I'll probably draw more stuff tonight/tomorrow.

Minecraft/Computercraft project

Here's a little something I'll toss up:

I'm making an Eye of the Beholder clone thing using the new feature that allows advanced monitors to be placed on floors and ceilings. Uses a centralized client/server system, with one computer controlling each monitor, and a central terminal controlling the terminals, using a simple scripting language to change the display. Monitors send click events back to the controller, along with a side ID.

Also, I have way too much time on my hands if I'm making this >_>

Lightbound

I dug this up from my file manager, and realized that outside of the Scary Four comp I made it for, I never released it anywhere else. So I uploaded it to GameJolt.

It's here if anybody wants to try it again.

Also, a guy named 'IAmJ3richoholic' did an LP of it less than four hours after upload:

And to wrap it all up

I wrote this little 'cover' of one of Visor's pieces this morning, in OpenMPT. It's short, but we both found it really catchy. Give it a listen, though it's just a short sample :P

Megica Sample

And I'm done for now. There is much work to be done.

Hunter looks good as always. God I love those rats. They animate like a dream.

Nice sword.

What about screen shaking?

I played that Lightbound game, I really liked the ambiance. Although I didn't understand why there were screaming skull things flying at me and if they actually hurt me or were intended to be jump scares.

This, more or less.

Maybe if you land a solid blow with the final slash, yeah. Or if you hit a wall.

Because I didn't have any flying pigs. [/jk]

My idea of how a 'scary game' should work has changed drastically after playing Amnesia, Cry of Fear (For about five minutes :P), and a few others.

Dude, Amnesia.

I finished playing all the Penumbra games, last week.

I can't wait for A Machine for Pigs.

Let me be honest, and say that I'm still locked in a terrible battle with Some Door in That One Corridor Somewhere in the first area. I'm terrible with scary games. Though I keep telling myself to finish it.

A Machine for Pigs looks like it's going to be super fun.

Also, mega.

Try retracing your steps.

In Black Plague? You have to shimmy open a power box, nearby, if I'm thinking of the correct thing. Hallway with eerie tape and locked door making angry moaning sounds?

Astryl 11 years, 3 months ago

What I meant is: I haven't summoned up the courage to progress beyond a few doorways in Amnesia. Playing at 3AM, with no lights and with headphones probably has something to do with that.

Some Door in That One Corridor

I googled this because I assumed this was the name of some horror game.

It sounds like such a Tim Burton name for a horror game.

/reads the title mentally in Vincent Price's voice
