I'll post micro-updates here.
I'm making a mini-RPG thingy, because that's what I feel like making. So far, I've created a character template, and started on an icy dungeon/castle tileset. I'm trying to go for a somewhat SNES/GBA style of art this time round. Here's what I have so far:I also have some basic music I've started to hammer out. You can hear it here if you have an NSF player: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11942397/Frosty2014.nsfNot doing much more tonight; I have work in the morning. :P
Updates:
Have a moving character, base tileset that I'm not expanding too much, text box system and custom font. This is basically going to be a micro-RPG, something like the introductory area to Lufia & The Fortress of Doom. I have a plan for the battle system in place.I've definitely overestimated my capability, but that's nothing new. I'm aiming for, specifically, to implement at the very least the "final" fight against the boss of this game.
If I find enough time tomorrow, I'll implement the rest of the dungeon and a little twist I wanted to add.Anyway, screenshots:Thanks!
Got a really hacky combat system nearly finished. Just aiming for this battle, since I really don't have time to add other enemies/events/etc. GM is horrible for creating the kinds of robust systems I'd like for an RPG.Icy. Is there any story to this game?
Hardly enough time for one, but there is the beginning of one. It's explained in-game. :P
Are the characters at the bottom left and right of the screen, the player characters? Or are they enemies? It's hard to tell given that there are 4 sets of Hp at the bottom of the screen but only 3 characters on the screen.
Player characters; I haven't finished the sprites for the mage and cleric yet.
The character you're currently giving orders to faces the screen.Makes sense, just a bit confusing when two of them are missing :P
