A Music/Soundtrack Blog

For a while I've wanted to make a music blog. I was searching for a site to host the files on so I could use 64D's handy audio player, but I couldn't. I settled on YouTube, which I really didn't want to because people can easily rip music from it. But anyway, I just wanted a little feedback on some of my more recent pieces.

Combat

This first piece came to be because an old game theme kept playing in my head while I was trying to sleep and I couldn't put my finger on it. So I wrote it down, remembered what it was, and altered it to my liking. Kudos if you can guess what it was inspired by, though Kabob will have a distinct advantage.

The song is the main battle theme for Terminys.

It's also one of my lower-quality songs, so don't pay much mind to it.

Powerful Foe

This one I've had since May of last year, and it was originally written for a team game I took part in, called Legendary. Unfortunately, the project didn't go through, so I decided to lengthen it and use it for my own. This is the song I've worked on most recently, and I actually really like how the second half turned out.

The song is the sylph boss theme for Terminys. In other words, it's the track you hear during all non-key sylph fights (some of you might remember Eira from my last demo).

Song of the Novice Sylph

I heard a piece a while ago that mixed a violin (or a fiddle) with drums and an electric guitar. I don't like how the guitar turned out much (it's a soundfont because I've found no decent VSTs, even combined with an amp). It's fast-paced and energetic, kind of like the person it was written for.

The song is Karemi's boss theme from Terminys (dear god, is that a spoiler? I think not).

Soul Witch

I hadn't listened to a lot of remixes, but I heard a pretty cool one of U.N. Owen Was Her that took advantage of a heavy dance beat with bells. I liked it, so I wrote my own song.

This song is Rayne Windspark's theme from Prism Soul.

That's the list so far. Thanks for taking the time to listen. All feedback is appreciated, positive or negative. Just don't be like "LOL YOUR MUSIC SUCKS" or whatever. Though I'm confident in 64Digits' recent maturity level.

Before you help Cyrus though, you must first compose some sucky music for my games.

To Xemic's request, I added reverb to another orchestral piece I never finished, but it doesn't sound all that good when I add it to all instruments, which would be natural, and it doesn't sound good when selecting only a few instruments, because then those instruments stand out.

You're going to have to elaborate just a bit. Other than that, I downloaded some of those soundfonts you linked to, but not many of the strings impress me. =(

Well, I don't know how much reverb you are adding, but adding a subtle amount of reverb should do the trick I believe.
